What a wonderful day! 🫶 A huge thank you to every knitter who joined us for our very first Big Knit Little Tea Party on 22nd May.

We were so thrilled to bring together knitters from our Guildford, Frimley & Milford groups, plus wonderful visitors from local care homes — all picking up their needles to create little hats for next year's Big Knit campaign. 🧢

A special shoutout to Susan, whose beautiful forget-me-knot hats in support of Dementia Awareness Week stole the show — even from afar! 💜

And we can't forget the incredible Butter and Cream bakery who gifted us the most gorgeous cakes and brownies. You made the party extra sweet! 🍰

Plans are already underway to double the number of hats from last year — and we'd love your help to get there. Keep those needles clicking! 🥰

🥾 What if a single walk changed everything?

For volunteer Clive, it started with one walk — 15 years later, he's still leading them. For some of our regular walkers, it started the same way — and they've now clocked up an incredible 250 walks with Go50, with one walker reaching 400 walks!

If you're in need of a new hobby, or want to return to one you've dropped, look no further Age UK Surrey's Men in Sheds.

Based at Merrist Wood College in Worplesdon, Guildford, the group meets Tuesday to Friday, with morning and afternoon sessions available. Members work on woodworking projects in a well-equipped workshop, but just as importantly, they enjoy great company, friendly banter, and a real sense of purpose.

As Catherine Hodgson, our CEO, puts it: "Retirement creates a void — lone men are less likely to engage in social activities than women." Men in Sheds is designed to change that.

🚴 What a ride - thank you, team! 🚴

This Surrey Day, 15 incredible cyclists represented Age UK Surrey in the Surrey Hills Classic 2026 - taking on 125km of stunning Surrey countryside, including the mighty Box Hill, White Down, and Leith Hill, Southern England's highest point.

To date, our amazing team has raised nearly £4,000 for Age UK Surrey - and donations are still coming in! Every penny raised helps us support older adults across Surrey to stay independent, connected, and thriving.

A heartfelt thank you to every single cyclist who gave their all on the day - your effort, grit, and determination will make a real difference to so many people's lives.
