It takes a lot of people to make fundraising events like Stride for Cancer Care happen. 💙💜

As we wrap up an incredible Stride for Cancer Care 2026, we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped bring the day together.

This World Mental Health Day, we’re thinking about the people who spend every day caring for us. 💙💜

Thanks to our supporters, Royal Surrey Charity has helped fund initiatives that give our NHS staff opportunities to connect, recharge and feel valued – from staff wellbeing and celebration events, improved staff rest spaces and wellbeing equipment, to training Mental Health First Aiders who can better support colleagues and patients. 🏥

We’ve also been proud to give Royal Surrey staff opportunities to come together outside work, including free places at events such as Run Thorpe Park and our Inflatable 5K.

Small things like these can make a meaningful difference, particularly for our healthcare heroes who work in busy and demanding environments.

Our Staff Wellbeing Fund helps us do that. 💜

"This was my first time taking part in our Royal Surrey Charity’s Stride for Cancer Care – and what a brilliant, inspiring and enjoyable day it was. There was such a fantastic atmosphere, and what struck me most was that everyone had their own reason for being there. Whether they were walking in memory of someone they love, supporting a family member, friend or colleague, or simply wanting to make a difference, you could really feel that shared sense of purpose.”

Felicity Paterson (pictured with her family), Consultant Oncologist and Joint Chief of Service Oncology at Royal Surrey Cancer Centre, took part in Stride for Cancer Care for the first time.

“It was incredibly special to see so many patients, families, staff and supporters coming together outside the hospital and knowing that every step was helping people with cancer who are treated here at Royal Surrey.

“Now in its fifth year, Stride for Cancer Care has raised more than £300,000 since 2022 to support people with cancer who are treated here at Royal Surrey. That generosity helps us fund extraordinary, personalised care – from new technology and equipment to improvements that can make a difficult time a little easier for patients and their loved ones.

“I feel incredibly proud to be part of the Royal Surrey family, and days like this really show what that means. Thank you to everyone who took part, raised money, volunteered or came along to support the event. Every pound raised will help us make a real difference to people with cancer and their families, and we are so grateful for your support.”

An incredible Rotary partnership has raised more than £ 107,000 to fund specialist surgical equipment for cancer patients at Royal Surrey. 💙💜

The equipment is already helping our surgical teams provide more precise care during complex operations, with further funding also agreed for additional technology. 🏥

A huge thank you to Rotary South Cut Out Cancer, The Rotary Foundation and everyone who has supported the campaign.
