Congratulations to the winners of the Surrey Electrical and Electronic Engineers in Business Competition (Dragon’s Den) 2026! 🏆

Our students combined technical expertise with entrepreneurial thinking to develop solutions to real-world challenges.

🥇 Pawly — £1,500
A smart pet-care ecosystem using connected devices to monitor pets’ health and wellbeing, providing owners with real-time insights and early health alerts.

🥈 The BioFluid Patch — £1,000
A non-invasive wearable patch that analyses sweat biomarkers to support real-time health monitoring.

🥉 EnerSenseAI — £500
An AI-powered energy-management solution designed to optimise energy consumption, improve efficiency and support more sustainable energy use.

A huge thank you to the Engineers and Scientists in Business Fellowship (ESBF) for supporting student enterprise and innovation, and to Mahtab Mirmohseni and Kate Bray for guiding and supporting our students throughout the programme.

Congratulations to our ESBF 2026 winners! 🏆

Foundation Year students in Engineering and Physical Sciences developed and pitched innovative business ideas addressing real-world challenges.

🥇 AquaSense — £1,500
A water-monitoring system designed to reduce water waste in data-centre cooling.

🥈 Soundscaper — £1,000
A smart plant pot using adaptive white noise to create calmer spaces for studying, working and relaxing.

🥉 HydroShield — £500
An affordable, rapidly deployable flood barrier designed to protect homes and small businesses.

Thank you to the Engineers and Scientists in Business Fellowship ESBF | Inspiring next generation engineers and scientists for funding the prizes and supporting students to build their commercial and enterprise skills.

The competition was led by Dr Carol Spencely, with support from Kate Bray, Student Enterprise Manager, who helped students develop their engineering ideas into viable business concepts.
