💜 THANK YOU! | Sleeping Under the Stars 💚

A huge thank you to The Pear Tree - Cleethorpes Quiz Teams for their incredibly generous donation!

Alongside the hammocks kindly donated by a local business, their support enabled us to purchase even more, meaning that every Scout who wants to can now experience the adventure of literally sleeping beneath the stars! 🌙✨

Whether they’re relaxing around camp or spending an entire night suspended between the trees, these hammocks will help create some fantastic experiences and unforgettable memories for our young people. 🏕️

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone whose generosity has made this possible. From all of us at 1st New Waltham Scout Group, thank you!

⚜️ GCSE RESULTS DAY GOOD LUCK! ⚜️

A huge good luck to all of our Young Leaders and Explorer Scouts receiving their GCSE results today. 💜

Whatever is written on that piece of paper, remember it’s only one part of your story. Through Scouting, we see the things a grade can’t measure, your resilience, kindness, confidence, teamwork, leadership and willingness to give things a go.

Some of you will be celebrating today. Some might feel disappointed or unsure about what comes next. Both are okay, and we’re here for you. Be proud of how far you’ve come, look forward to your next adventure and remember…

Your results don’t define you.
Your next chapter is just beginning. ⚜️

📸 WORLD PHOTOGRAPHY DAY | A picture tells a thousand stories…

But we don’t think we could tell the story of Scouting with just one.
🔥 Adventure.
🪢 Skills.
🌿 Discovery.

Photography can be a Skill for Life too. Through our Photographer Activity Badge, young people can learn how to capture great images and use photography to tell their own stories.

Well… there are 850 of you now! 👀😂

We’re not entirely sure whether you’re here for the adventures, the amazing things our young people get up to, the occasional bit of Scout chaos… or you’ve just stayed to see what happens next. 🤷‍♀️😂

Whatever the reason, thank you!

We genuinely love sharing a little window into life at 1st New Waltham Scouts, celebrating our young people, our volunteers and the adventures and memories being made week after week.

The countdown to a new term of adventures, challenges, friendships and probably a little bit of Scout chaos is officially ON!

We’ve certainly enjoyed your comments, stories and contributions to our slightly unofficial volunteering campaign, thank you for joining in! Joking aside, we know we’re just one of many fantastic Scout Groups, locally and further afield, doing amazing things with young people, and it’s all powered by incredible volunteers.

At 1st New Waltham, we’re lucky to have a brilliant team who give the time they can, when they can. Some help every week, others when life allows, and it all makes a difference. But in some of our sections, we’d love a few more people to join us.

You don’t need Scouting experience. You don’t need to commit every week. You just need to be willing to have a go.

😂 ABORT MISSION. SHE’S COMING BACK. 🚨

It’s been fun while it lasted… 👀
We’ve talked volunteering, overgrown Scouts, advanced tea-making qualifications and definitely haven’t been recruiting anyone. 😇

But apparently the GLV is back tomorrow, so we’d better start clearing the evidence. 🫣😂

Although… if you happened to message the page before she gets back, there’s not much we can do about that, is there? 👀💜⚜️

😂 We were specifically told NOT to recruit anyone while the GLV was away…

And we would never ignore a direct instruction like that. 👀😇

So this is absolutely NOT us mentioning that we’d love to hear from anyone who might fancy joining our brilliant volunteer team. 💜

It’s definitely NOT us saying you can give as much or as little time as works for you.

And under no circumstances should you message the page for a completely informal chat about getting involved. 🤫😂

💷 FINANCIAL AWARENESS DAY | Skills for Life
Knowing how to manage money might not be the first thing that springs to mind when you think of Scouts, but it’s an important skill for life. Understanding the value of money, making choices, budgeting, saving and even having a go at earning it are skills that can help young people become more confident and independent. We think the best way to learn is by having a go. ⚜️

Soon some of our young people will be taking on Otter’s £5 Enterprise Challenge. 👀 all in a quest to both build money confidence and raise funds for our Scottish adventure 2027! Along the way, they’ll be learning about cost, profit, budgeting, planning, creativity and taking a calculated risk, without it feeling much like a lesson at all. And yes… Otter will be wanting her £5 back! 😂🦦

Because Scouts isn’t just about tents, campfires and adventure. It’s about helping young people develop the confidence and skills they’ll use long after they’ve left the campfire behind.

That’s what we mean by Skills for Life. ⚜️

😂 We’ve reached the advanced training section of our recruitment campaign… ☕👀

No Scouting experience? Absolutely no problem.

You don’t need to know how to pitch a tent, light a fire, read a map or lead an activity before you join us. There’s training, support and a whole team of people around you to help you learn as you go. 💜

As for making tea for 30 people… apparently we save that until you’re ready for the really challenging stuff. 😂☕⚜️

Come as you are. Bring what you can. We’ll help with the rest.

Just don’t ask the GLV about the tea assessment… 🤫😂

🎉 A-Level & T-Level Results Day 2026! 🎓⭐

A huge congratulations to everyone receiving their results today!

Whatever is written on that piece of paper, getting to today represents years of hard work, determination, challenges overcome and plenty of learning along the way, and that deserves to be celebrated. 💜

For some, today will bring exactly the results they hoped for. For others, the next step might look a little different than originally planned.

And that’s okay.

University, apprenticeships, further training, employment, volunteering, taking some time to work things out… there’s no single route to where you want to be.

At Scouts, we’re big believers in Skills for Life, confidence, resilience, teamwork, leadership and having the courage to try something new. Your results are part of your story, but they don’t define everything you’re capable of.

So, to everyone opening that envelope or logging in today…

👏 Be proud of how far you’ve come.
⭐ Be excited about what comes next.
💜 And remember, your next adventure is only just beginning.
