195 Grimsby Squadron ATC, Royal Air Force Air Cadets

195 Grimsby Squadron ATC, Royal Air Force Air Cadets 195 (Grimsby) Squadron is a member of the Air Training Corps, commonly known as Air Cadets. Air Cadets offers experiences that others can only dream of.

We are a UK wide cadet force supported by the RAF, offering unique opportunities to teenagers who are up for a challenge. 195 (Grimsby) Squadron is a member of Trent Wing in the Air Training Corps. All of our cadets have chosen to be part of an organization that offers fun, adventure, and important skills to develop which will be beneficial later in life - as well as making you stand out to any em

ployer, college or university. Who can say that they've flown a plane at the tender age of thirteen? Who can say that they spent their weekend firing rifles and having a real insight into service life by camps? Join the 40,000 cadets able to say this. It's a challenge - but after all, isn't that what life is all about? We are not a recruiting agency for the RAF, but if that's your career goal you'll have a head start and this will make you stand out from the rest - 40% of officers and 50% of all aircrew are former cadets.

Last weekend saw 26 of our cadets travel up to RAF Leeming to compete against cadets from 30 other Squadrons in Aircraft Recce, Drill, Archery, Modelling, Target Shooting, Banner Drill, STEM, First Aid, Media, Microbit and Leadership.

The cadets put in a fantastic effort, placing top 5 in a number of areas.

All the hard work paid off on the day, with the Squadron clinching 3rd place overall!!! 🥳🥳🥳

This is an amazing achievement, improving on last years 4th place!

Well done to all involved, including the adult volunteers who have encouraged the cadets and given up their free time to put on additional training sessions.
On the day, six Sqn staff also helped run the event, proving that 195 not only show up, but put in the hard work as well 💪

A special nod goes to our drill team, who came FIRST out of 31 Sqns! Incredible work! 👏👏👏

Well done all! Bring on next year!

Tonight’s parade will go ahead

The Met Office reports a lower expected temperature this evening, so Squadron will remain open, however:

🎽 Do not wear uniform. Instead, attend in sports kit - comfortable, loose clothing - to prevent you from overheating.

💧 Bring a bottle of water with you. We will have water available on Squadron, but recommend all cadets bring some with them.

🧢 Wear a baseball cap to protect your head if you need to go outside.

Keep an eye on Cadet Portal for any changes.

STAND DOWN: Parade night cancelled tonight

Squadron will stand down for tonight (Tuesday 23 June 2026) due to the hot weather. Cadets should not attend this evening.

We will be actively reviewing Thursday's temperatures before making a decision about whether our usual parade night goes ahead.

Please keep an eye on our channels for updates.

👑 A Royal Visit 👑

Yesterday, HM King Charles III visited Grimsby to hear about community initiatives and activities for young people.

As part of His Majesty’s tour of Horizon Youth Zone, we were invited to send a cadet to meet the King.

Sgt Barlow represented the Squadron, and spoke with the King about the opportunities she has enjoyed as part of our Squadron.

On behalf of the Squadron, Sgt Barlow also presented His Majesty with a 195 Squadron patch as a souvenir of his time in Grimsby.

Congratulations to Sgt Barlow on a fantastic day and an unforgettable experience!

A sponsored walk taking place today in memory of former cadet, Kai Bore-McDonald, is well underway.

If you're in Grimsby later today, it would be great to get lots of people down to Victoria Street Police Station to greet the team doing the walk as they cross the finish line.

In the comments we've shared the link to donate to the Teenage Cancer Trust, in memory of Kai, and a link to track the team as they walk across the region.

Best of luck to all those participating in today’s Great Grimsby 10k - including some of our own cadets and staff! 🏃‍♀️

It is with sadness that staff learned earlier this week of the passing of former 195 Sqn cadet, Kai Bore-McDonald.

Kai will be remembered as a cadet who embodied the spirit of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, seizing every opportunity, developing himself and supporting others.

Despite his life being cut short, he managed to achieve so much, and we are proud of the person he became.

Our deepest sympathies are with Kai’s family and friends at this difficult time.
