We provide opportunities for fun activities, skills for life and help build friendships & memories that last a lifetime for young people & adults in the Scartho community & beyond. We are one of the oldest Scout Groups in the area, providing unique and interesting experiences for young people all across our area.

⚜️Scouts Fantastic Cleveland Hills Adventure: Resilience, Teamwork, and Unstoppable Scout Spirit! 🏔️⛺️🧭

Huge shoutout to our incredible Scouts who along with a couple of scouting friends from other troops conquered the Cleveland Hills last weekend👏

Facing some challenging weather we as always had a backup plan but, as shown in the photos with some timely breaks in the wind and heavy rain these young adventurers were still able to wake up to amazing views, spend their days hiking🥾 in the beautiful hills and climbing on the nearby crags🧗‍♀️ For most it was a new experience in a rugged environment but they were determined and supported each other every single step of the way. 🤝

And when the conditions got a bit too wild🌩, we made the smart call on the second night to swap tents for the safety of indoors and the coziness of the cottage at Pybus Scout Campsite.

Did that dampen spirits?🤔 Not a chance! It just brought everyone closer together for an evening of laughs, games, cooking and gathering around the open fire in the kitchen for campfire songs and smores🧡

A massive thank you to our amazing volunteer leaders and instructors for flexible planning with the contingencies to keep everyone safe and able to enjoy the weekend. And also to the Scouts for your resilience, your teamwork and adaptability showing what true scouting spirit is all about. You made us all incredibly proud! 🏕️✨

⚜️🐿SQURRELS: EPIC MARBLE RUN FROM RECYCLING! ♻️🔴

Last week armed with lots of cardboard boxes, tubes, egg cartons, and heaps of imagination, our youngest scouts put their engineering skills to the test to build their very own marble run. There was plenty of trial, error and watching the marbles fly off the tracks and trying again—but lots of excitement and satisfaction when that first marble made it to the bottom 🏁🏆

Activities like this are a fantastic, hands-on way for our Squirrels to try new things, learn to work as a team, and build up their problem-solving skills and at the end the squirrels shared what they had enjoyed the most 😁

⚜️Scouts: Mission Survival⚜️

A few of our Scouts headed to Primrose Hill Campsite last weekend to meet up with other Scouts to test their survival skills 🔥

The mission?
👉Build a shelter that doesn't collapse at 3 AM (with tents as back up 😁)
👉light and keep the camp fire burning,
👉master the art of not burning the dinner cooking on open fires
👉meet new scouting friends

✅️Mission successful✅️

There is something special about learning new skills with new friends, gathering around a campfire to keep warm on dark autumn nights and sharing food and experiences. It's called Scouts⚜️

⚜️Cub Scouts: Putting learning into practice 🪵

Our Cubs put their knotting and pioneering skills to the test this week by turning raw materials into working machines. After scavenging in the woods for the perfect sturdy sticks, they combined them with poles and rope to lash together their very own functional catapults!

It wasn't just about tying knots—they had to think about stability, tension, and angles to make sure their structures could handle the launch. Safe to say, the engineering paid off, and we had some brilliant (and highly competitive!) target practice.

Learning different knots and lashings over the last few weeks has really paid off and it was great to see some great teamwork, discussion and sharing ideas.

🐿Squirrel Scouts Creating Autumn Masterpieces🍁

Last week we had a lovely crisp autumn walk checking out the trees and changing colours in the church yard. Then it was back to the hall to create some tree shaped masterpieces🌳

✨️The Squirrels put their creative-thinking to good use, turning a rainbow of colorful autumn leaves into brilliant artwork🍁🍂. Safe to say, we have some very talented little artists in the group🎨

🍂Crunching leaves underfoot, listening to the wind in the branches, seeing and using the vibrant colours are all important sensory interactions and a great way for our youngest members to build connections with nature whilst sharing their adventures with new friends 🧡

🙋‍♀️We have lots of young people wanting to join in. Could you help us open up more places by joining our amazing volunteer team?

⚜️Learning the ropes at Beaver Scouts! 🦫

Tonight, our Beaver Scouts took on the challenge of learning how to tie knots

From tackling the classic reef knot to mastering the more difficult timber hitch which they used in teams to move small logs and then practising tying shoe laces, everyone gave it a fantastic go!

✨️We saw lots of focus, teamwork, helping each other and some of our Beavers also showed some natural teaching ability👏

It’s all part of building those important skills they’ll use as they progress through Scouting and in life. A huge well done to all of our Beavers for their fantastic effort tonight! 👏💪

⚜️🐿Squirrel Scout Taster Number Two: A Glowing Success🔥

This week, our 4 and 5 year olds got stuck into some serious "campfire" engineering. Not quite ready on only week 2 to unleash real flames but practising songs for the real thing in a few weeks they crafted the ultimate fire-free campfires! 🌲✨🔥

Once our glowing masterpieces were ready, we gathered together and cranked up the volume for some classic scout campfire songs.🎶🎤There were plenty of actions, lots of smiling faces, and the fire side snack went down really well😋

♦️The young people and adults have had so much fun at our taster sessions but to open up more spaces for local young people, we need more fun loving adult volunteers. Whether you can help out once a week, once a month, or just handle behind-the-scenes admin, you will be making a massive difference. No prior scouting experience is needed—just a willingness to get stuck in and have fun!

⚜️BEAVERS and BANDAGES⛑️

Our beavers got hands-on this week mastering some vital Emergency Aid skills! 🚑

This week's key skills included

🗯 Calling for Help
🩹 Treating Minor Bleeding
🩸 More Severe Bleeding
😴 Dealing with an Unconscious Person and practising the Recovery Position

Our young emergency aiders took turns being the casualty, mastered the recovery position and were then let loose with bandages 🤣 There was lots of fun but also actually some very skilled bandaging.

The Scouts Emergency Aid Staged Badge focuses on teaching young people essential .
and in these early stages, the primary goals are to build confidence, prevent panic, and teach young people how to help themselves and others during minor or major accidents.

We are proud of how maturely the beavers handled this first session and we are looking forward to the next. A massive well done to everyone—a great start to earning your badge! 🏅👏
