3rd Cleethorpes Scout Group

3rd Cleethorpes Scout Group was formed in November 1912, so we have been having adventures for over 100 years!

We provide everyday adventure to young people living in the Carr Lane area (and beyond!) as part of Grimsby and Cleethorpes District Scouts. Scouting offers fun and friendship, challenge and everyday adventure to over 400,000 girls and boys across the UK. We have a positive impact on young people, our 100,000 adult volunteers and the communities in which we live. Offering over 200 different activi

Tonight, our Cub meeting was run by one of our very own Cubs, leading a couple of games as well as the main activity- Making a clay animal or character. Cubs could then decorate a background for their clay figure, really exploring their creativity 😃 Our temporary Cub leader was also able to select this weeks Cub of the week 🐺

We will be introducing this through most of our sections from September, so if your Squirrel/Beaver/Cub/Scout fancies planning & leading a meeting, please let your section volunteers know😃

🎶🐿️ Our youngest Scouts, Squirrels completed their Musician Badge 🎉

They made their own guitars to add to their shakers, explored a wide range of instruments and sounds, enjoyed taking part in a musical parade, and practised stop/go and loud/quiet. A brilliant couple of sessions being as loud as we want to 😃🥁 🎸

This time it was Beavers turn to become Money Detectives! 🕵️💰

We had another lovely visit from Money Smart kids who helped Beavers explore the world of money through a range of fun activities. They decorated their very own savings jars to take home, identified and sorted coins and spoke about the difference between things that they want and things that they need.
We learnt new skills and had lots of fun along the way 😃

Another huge thank you to the Money Smart kids team for delivering such an enjoyable and educational session! 😃✨

After a bit of a Cruel Summer, Trailer Swift has finally said "I do" to a brand new makeover! She's officially stripped back, undercoated, and ready for the next chapter.

We're entering our Begin Again era, and while Everything Has Changed, there's still plenty to do before we can say, "You Belong With Me" around the campfire.

If you've got a few hours to spare, we'd love some extra hands. Whether you're handy with tools, happy to paint, or just want to be part of the fun, we'd love you to join our renovation crew to bring more amazing projects like this to life.

Because at the end of the day, Long Live the volunteers who make projects like this possible!

The temperature of our hall and the anti-social behaviour of others outside it, might have put a stop to our meetings this week... but it has meant that some of our volunteers have more time to work on our latest bit of kit- a well loved and used trailer that has been generously donated to us, and is now in need of a bit of TLC.
We've named it 'Trailer Swift' and thought you might like a sneek peak of the 'before'.... we can't wait to see the transformation into something to help us on our adventures!

What a brilliant evening for our Beaver group🦫
They first got creative with badge work, designing characters packed with clever ways to beat the heat this summer ☀️ After enjoying one of their favourite games, everyone had the chance to try their hand at archery with our very own, newly trained group Archery Instructor. 🏹
Well done to all Beavers for giving it their best shot 😃 🏆

We were incredibly honoured to attend the North East Lincolnshire SEND Awards last night and to see our Group Lead Volunteer, Rachel, receive the Special Recognition Award.

Rachel was quick to point out that this achievement is very much a team effort. While she is privileged to be the "conductor", she believes this award belongs to all of the volunteers who work so hard to make 3rd Cleethorpes such a welcoming, supportive and inclusive Scout Group.

Scouting's new strategy focuses not only on providing young people with Skills for Life, but also on giving them a place to belong. Ensuring that everyone feels included and valued is something that is hugely important to us.

It is a real honour for the work of our group to be recognised in this way, particularly as the first Scout Group to receive recognition at these awards. We are incredibly proud of what our volunteers, young people and families have achieved together.

As we celebrate this recognition, we're also proud to reflect on our long history of serving the local community. For 113 years, 3rd Cleethorpes has been helping young people grow, learn and belong - and we look forward to continuing that tradition for many years to come.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way and congratulations to every volunteer who makes 3rd Cleethorpes the special place it is.

Tonight, 3rd Cleethorpes Squirrels became Money Detectives! 🕵️💰

Like many of the wonderful local businesses and organisations joining in the fun following His Majesty's visit to Grimsby, we couldn't resist imagining a very special stop-off at the newly renovated back store of 3rd Cleethorpes Scouts!

Before anyone asks - yes, this image was created using AI and isn't a real photograph. But our pride in what we've achieved certainly is. Thanks to a lot of hard work, teamwork and volunteer effort, our store is looking better than ever and ready to support all the adventures ahead.

While King Charles may not have actually popped in for a tour, we always welcome visitors, volunteers and anyone who would like to lend a hand or support what we do. There's always a project on the go, and many hands really do make light work!
