🚨 UPDATE ON NORTH COTES ROAD 🚨

Further to comments by local residents, I've asked the local highways manager about any urgent fixes for this section. She has told me that longitudinal crack repairs are due within the next few weeks. I've asked if this can be done as soon as they can as this is impacting residents accessing North Cotes and Marshchapel during the A1031 works.

Larger Patch repairs will be done down Tetney Lock Road in November to avoid conjunction with A1031 works.

A huge thank you to everyone who has already suggested books through the Hub. Please keep those recommendations coming - we’ll be choosing a new title every month, so your suggestion could be one of our future reads.

📅 We start reading on 1st September, so now you’ve got a few days to get hold of your copy.

You can buy Blood Orange from ⁠Amazon UK, or why not try the library first? Lincolnshire Libraries lets members search the catalogue and reserve books for free - and you can do it through the Lincolnshire Libraries app too.

And remember - you can arrange for reserved library books to come out to our village on the mobile library, so it’s definitely worth checking before buying! 📚🚐

🌒☀️ LOOK UP, NORTH COTES - THERE’S A SOLAR ECLIPSE TOMORROW! ☀️🌒

On Wednesday 12th August, we’ll get the chance to see a spectacular partial solar eclipse, with around 91% of the Sun covered at its maximum in our area! 😮

🌙 The eclipse begins at around 6:13pm
🌑 Maximum eclipse is around 7:09pm
🌙 It finishes at around 8:03pm

You’ll want a spot with a good clear view towards the western horizon, as the Sun will be getting fairly low in the sky.

⚠️ PLEASE VIEW IT SAFELY! Never look directly at the Sun. Proper certified eclipse glasses are ideal - but if you haven’t got any, you can still join in!

Our graphic shows you how to make a simple pinhole projector from a cardboard box - or grab a colander from the kitchen and project dozens of tiny crescent Suns onto a white surface. 🌙🌙🌙

It could be a brilliant one to get the kids involved with too - safely, of course!

📸 And if you manage to get any great photos of the eclipse, the sunset or everyone enjoying it, we’d love to see them!

We’re delighted to launch a brand new Local History section on The North Cotes Hub - giving us somewhere to preserve, share and enjoy photographs of North Cotes and the surrounding area from years gone by.

There are already some fantastic old photos waiting to be explored - from familiar village streets that looked very different to the North Cotes we know today, to fascinating glimpses of our area’s wartime past.
