🚨 A1031 NORTH COTES CLOSURE UPDATE 🚨
We are now in the final stages of this project with the final touches such as lining, verge works and reinforcement.
ℹ️ A1031 access from North Cotes to Marshchapel should now be back open ✅ 🙌🙌
From tomorrow, the red section will be closed from 7:30am to 6:30pm (I have asked for an update on what work can be done down Tetney Lock Road and North Cotes Road in the future from my highways manager)
Access for residents down this road, school buses and emergency services will be provided during these works. I have sent some messages about School Transport access to the Senior Projects Leader and he has sent to the contractor.
Tuesday they are doing Paco patching around the ironwork, the flexible surrounds we use to prevent cracking. This is many sections of the carriageway so cannot be done via traffic light system as I queried.
Wednesday/Thursday there are the final lining and verge works. Lining has had a massive demand recently in the region and nationally which is the reason for delay and the verge drop offs will not be as noticeable after the work as a residents queried. These again cannot be administered under traffic lights as I queried because we will be doing the centre lines and equipment will take up the whole road.
Friday will be marked post installation, the team are looking into if this can be done under traffic lights during the day but no confirmation as of yet.
This work is all subject to weather so any delays will be due to any severe weather we get over this next week.
There were queries about why the section from Fleetway to Sheep Marsh Lane was extended. Last Wednesday, the heavy rain stopped them from laying the binder course layer and reinforcement grid that set them back.
