Those of you who know us understand this area has been in a sorry state for a while. We came together to clean it up a few years ago now but it won't last if people are wrongfully using it to dump rubbish.

If anyone sees anything, please drop Paul a message. He's a really nice guy and we are fortunate enough to have councillors in our ward like him who are on the ground and listen to people 💚

Larch Crescent, who is dumping rubbish there: I am still talking to LHP to get Larch cleaned up, made safe, fenced off, and built on. They have been great, but its slow going. Meantime its being used as a tip. If any of you have footage of any works going on there, or tipping, can you message me? There should not be any work taking place, according to LHP, yet. So if tipper trucks are dumping stuff, they should not be.

4️⃣ CleanerWalks Community Litterpick #4 4️⃣

Today a lovely group of people came together to help look after Weelsby Woods. We were met with rain but left in good spirits and ice cream!

Our volunteers today listened to our usual safety briefing where we ensure any disposable vapes or gas canisters are seperated from the rest of the litter. We then drew 4 lucky entries from the Nice List. This month we were so fortunate to have Treehouse Cafe & Ices Weelsby Woods donate to us some ice cream vouchers for the winners. We are so lucky to have a lovely cafe like this open offering hot food, drinks and ice cream as well as toilet facilities. Please make sure you visit them when you can!

Everyone spread out and within the hour, we'd removed about 15 bags and various bits of flytipping from the woods. Thank you to everyone else who helps out around here. I remember a few years ago I'd fill one (if not several) black bags a week on my walks!

Today's litterpick was possible thanks to North East Lincolnshire Council. We have two more litterpicks coming up before the end of October. The next is on October 22nd on the Willows as mentioned in the photos.

As always, we also gave away several litterpicking kits to people who wanted to continue litterpicking in their own free time along with some QR codes to log their litterpicks. The new kits have been generously donated by North East Lincolnshire Council. Thanks again! 🥰

We were also able to give out some of our CleanerWalks HiVis jackets for any children or adults attending. These were funded by NELC and we turned to local business JD Print LTD to help us put the logo on. Thank you!

Thanks to our pal Jim for rescuing a wheelie bin from the Boating Lake the other day. We visited today to help cleanup anything else that had blown around and in the pond. It's looking great thanks to everyone who also helps out (including Keepthecoastclear 🐚)

Our 4th Community Litterpick is tomorrow (Oct 17th) at 10am at Weelsby Woods. We hope to see you there.

Don't forget that if you live near Ladysmith Road, there will be a skip it event on Tuesday 20th at 8.30am until 3. Great chance to get rid of anything in your way.

A different kind of clean up!

As part of Jim's work with NELC we joined to help give the town centre a spruce up. It ended up requiring a different approach than we are used to although there were still plenty of bits of litter to pickup.

Most noticeable, cigarette ends. So many keep being thrown or blown here into the reed bed and the water. Do we really hate our river that much? 🚬

It took us 2 days but we got it all sorted in the end.
