Monday 31st August is a bank holiday, and the Pavilion Café and Gardens will be closed for the day.

Our volunteers have worked incredibly hard over the past few months preparing for the judging days and maintaining the gardens through some very challenging weather conditions. We believe they have thoroughly earned a well-deserved day off.

We hope you enjoy the extra day off and look forward to welcoming you back on Tuesday 1st September.

Spending time outdoors, whether in a garden or on an allotment, is widely recognised for its positive impact on health and wellbeing.

With this in mind, Grimsby in Bloom has created a community garden featuring flower beds, vegetable plots and fruit trees. Even during the colder months, our polytunnels provide a comfortable space to continue gardening while still enjoying the benefits of being outdoors.

There is a real sense of achievement in sowing seeds, nurturing plants as they grow, and eventually enjoying vibrant flowers or harvesting your own fresh produce.

Many of our volunteers tell us that working in the garden and spending time in the fresh air has significantly improved their wellbeing.

Could spending more time outdoors and connecting with nature benefit you too?

If you can spare an hour or two, we would love your help in keeping the garden thriving. In return, you will have the opportunity to make new friends, learn new skills and enjoy the satisfaction of contributing to a valued community space.

Although it may seem early, now is the perfect time to start planning for a colourful garden next year.

Do you have a patch of ground that never seems to thrive? Poppies could be the ideal solution. We have carefully collected and dried this year's poppy seeds and packed them ready for sale. For just 50p, you will receive at least 500 seeds.
The pollinators will thank you for this small gesture.

We all love to see colourful flowers all year round, but as we know the most prolific time for this is the summer. The stunning flower beds, planters, and hanging baskets all adding that immense colour to our gardens and street scenes.
So why do we do it? To make our gardens look beautiful, but also to give the pollinators their food. This is essential for humans to survive especially if we are also growing our own vegetables.
Please think about what you plant and why you plant.

Hello everyone,

Does anyone have any spare water butts or guttering materials they no longer need? We are looking for items such as brackets, elbows, downpipes, end stops, and any other related fittings.

Our Community Garden site currently has four IBC tanks and eight water butts in place, but we have space to expand our rainwater harvesting system and make good use of any donated items.

The recent rainfall over the past few days has been a welcome change, providing much-needed relief for our gardens. Flowers and trees alike have benefited from the moisture after an extended dry period.

So, how can we help ensure our flowers continue to produce vibrant blooms that attract pollinators, which play such a vital role in food production?

One approach is to choose plants that are well suited to dry conditions. Reliable favourites such as Pelargoniums (Geraniums), Euphorbias and Ceanothus can thrive during warmer, drier weather while continuing to provide colour and support for pollinators.
