Meet Tom 💙

Tom has a severe learning disability. Last year, he sadly suffered a fall that resulted in a fractured neck, leading to a gradual loss of his ability to stand and walk. Despite many creative attempts, Tom found it incredibly difficult to engage in land-based physiotherapy.

Everything changed with hydrotherapy.

After just 4 months of weekly sessions, Tom made incredible progress, improving his weight-bearing ability and building muscle strength. Today, he can now stand and walk short distances with support - something that once felt out of reach.

✨ This progress simply wouldn’t have been possible without access to hydrotherapy.

We are passionate about raising awareness of this vital therapy, especially for people with learning disabilities who struggle with traditional rehabilitation approaches

However, access comes at a cost. We rely on charitable funding to continue hiring the pool and providing this life-changing support.

💎 G.E.M (Going the Extra Mile) Award

As part of our Volunteers’ Week celebrations, it felt especially fitting to celebrate one of our longest-serving volunteers, Carroll, as this month’s GEM Award winner 🏆

Paul Watson, Care Plus Group Chair, presented this to Carroll at our volunteers' celebration event. Carroll has dedicated more than 20 years of service through volunteering, making a difference to so many people along the way. Her commitment and kindness embody the values of volunteering and community spirit.

Volunteers like Carroll are at the heart of what we do, and her contribution over the years deserves to be recognised and celebrated.

Huge congratulations and thank you to Carroll for everything you continue to do - a truly deserving GEM Award winner! 💎

💙 Exciting news! 💙

We're really pleased to share that our very own Hannah has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Palliative & End of Life Care Awards 2026, in the Bereavement Support Award category.

This recognition relates to the work around bereavement support, including the Little Box of Love and Hugs initiative, something that has been close to Hannah's heart and a true team effort to support people during incredibly difficult times.

The awards ceremony will take place on 2nd July 2026 at the Hilton London Bankside, and we wish Hannah the best of luck at the awards ceremony!

🎤 Today, our CEO was a panellist on the role of social enterprises in providing neighbourhood care. Lisa Revell took to the stage at the NHS Confed Expo conference, where thousands of health and social care leaders converged in Manchester to attend the biggest health and social care conference of the year.

Lisa spoke proudly about our wonderful staff who make such a difference across our community. 💚

Carers Week 2026 is taking place this week. This year’s national campaign theme is "Building Carer Friendly Communities," which highlights the need for local areas, workplaces, and services to better identify and support unpaid carers.

At CPG, we have a team of 3 carer wellbeing workers who support carers who aid people over the age of 60, or who have a learning or physical disability.

Coming together to celebrate carers week!

continues… Carers Champions from Focus and Navigo came together to discuss how we can strengthen our partnership and continue to put unpaid carers at the heart of everything we do.

These regular meetings, hosted by Focus, also bring together colleagues from The Care Plus Group and the NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board , creating valuable opportunities to collaborate, share learning and strengthen support for carers.

A true example of adult social care teamwork in North East Lincolnshire .
