Have you ever wondered what a typical day at the CARE shop looks like for one of our volunteers? Meet Emily! 💙
Emily starts each day with a warm hello to the team before checking our Facebook messages and eBay account, making sure enquiries are answered and our online listings are running smoothly. Before the doors open, she helps get the shop looking its best, ready to welcome our customers.
Throughout the morning, Emily keeps busy serving customers on the till, answering phone calls to arrange furniture collection bookings, and offering a friendly face to everyone who visits. One highlight recently was helping a couple to buy a pushchair. Thanks to her years of experience, Emily was able to demonstrate exactly how it worked, giving the new owners confidence before they left the shop.
After a well-earned lunch break, Emily swaps the shop floor for an equally important role behind the scenes. She contacts clients who have applied for furniture donations, carefully matching their needs with the items we have available and arranging delivery dates.
Before heading home, Emily checks our social media messages one last time, signs out, and says goodbye to the team—ready to do it all again another day.
Every task, whether it's serving customers, answering calls, supporting families, or helping people access essential furniture, makes a real difference.
