Our CARE Hub in Grimsby town centre is a place where people experiencing rough sleeping and homelessness sit alongside families, older people, volunteers and local workers, becoming part of the community rather than being segregated. Building trust and relationships is central to what we do, so that people in crisis can begin to feel safe, heard and valued. Every person is treated with dignity, worth and potential.
We have around 35 rough sleepers who regularly visit, and many more who are sofa-surfing or living in temporary accommodation. We know there are still people who have not yet found us, and we want to continue reaching out to our local community with care, kindness and practical support.
To further this commitment, we’re welcoming Suesan to the CARE Hub team, in a newly created role as Day Services Coordinator. Suesan will focus on helping our rough sleepers move from life on the streets towards safe accommodation, stability and independence.
Work has already started - with one-to-one conversations to understand what each person needs and their unique situation. From here, we’ll help them to steadily rebuild their confidence, develop meaningful relationships, learn practical skills and rediscover their abilities as part of a supportive community.
When the upper floor renovation is completed at the Hub, we’ll also be able to deliver a varied programme of activities and opportunities specifically designed for people experiencing rough sleeping to support their long-term recovery.
