We are proud to support Refugee Week celebrating this years them of COURAGE! through the power of culture and creativity.

We have worked with refugees, people seeking asylum and our wider community to deliver a Creative Workshop Festival exploring artforms to create impactful, collaborative artworks in celebration of Refugee Week.

The artwork is available to view at our Refugee Week exhibition, open today 12 - 4pm at Our Big Picture.

We are super excited to welcome author Bethany Walker to Our Big Picture for tomorrows Creative kids Saturday arts club with an exciting workshop exploring Medusa, Greek mythology, storytelling and monster designs! We can’t wait!

Beth is a children’s author, teacher and educator working across museums and galleries with a love of writing, art and history 📚

Beth is in Grimsby supporting the official launch of the BRILLIANT Rabbit Hole Bookshop, if you’ve not managed to visit yet then tomorrow is the perfect opprtunity, open between 10am - 5pm ⭐️

We are delighted to launch Refugee Week with an exhibition showcasing artwork made by refugees, people seeking asylum and community during our Creative Workshop Festival.

Over 6 artist led workshops, we explorerd traditional and contemporary techniques including chain maille, felt work, portraiture, clay and plaster. We can’t wait to share this work with our wider community.

Join us at Our Big Picture on Saturday from 3pm for our exhibition launch event.

A sneaky peek at the process behind an incredible piece of art made at yesterdays Plaster Relief workshop as part of our Refugee Week Creative Festival.

Using nature as inspiration for a large scale collaborative piece, participants worked together to design the composition and create something incredible. You can see the final piece on display at our Refugee Week exhibition starting Saturday 13th June 🌻

We have 2 FREE workshops tomorrow in support of Refugee Week, we’d love for the community to get involved and join us!

First up is a Plaster Relief workshop with Oli from Turnpenney Pottery. Working large scale we will collaboratively create artworks in clay before poring plaster to create a relief. This is a hand on, fun and a little bit messy! Not to be missed!

There’s just over 2 weeks until Refugee Week and we are so excited to launch our Creative Workshop Festival this week!

We have 5 brilliant creative workshops running which are FREE to attend. All workshops are led by practicing artists and designed to combine traditional & contemporary techniques to create collaborative artworks to exhibit during Refugee Week.

Starting today with a large scale wet-felting workshop with Ukrainian artist Svitlana, we are excited to bring the community together to create.

All workshops are Free to attend, suitable for beginners with no experience necessary. If you are a refugee, person seeking asylum or a member of our community keen to get involved, please book your place now 👉🏻
