Gift Aid is a UK government scheme that allows charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers, increasing the value of the donation at no extra cost to the donor 💰
Here's how it works:
When you donate £1 to a charity and opt into Gift Aid, the charity can claim an extra 25p from HMRC, making your total contribution £1.25. Make a larger donation of £100 and the charity can claim an extra £25, making your donation £125 - a big difference!
This boost doesn't cost you anything extra; it's a way for your donation to go further.
To make your donation eligible for Gift Aid, you need to:

We’re delighted to share that a wish for bariatric chairs in the Diagnostic Investigations Unit waiting room at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby has now been fulfilled 💚

The wish maker told us: “Many of our patients find it difficult getting out of the regular chairs as they are low in height. As many patients arrive early this can leave them stood waiting to be seen and also prove difficult when getting up due to mobility issues.”

Thanks to the generosity of our wonderful supporters, we’ve been able to fund new chairs that provide greater comfort, dignity and accessibility for patients attending the unit.

We’ve launched a new lottery scheme, giving supporters the chance to win cash prizes while helping raise vital funds for patients and families
The BIG Lotto for Health Charities is a new shared lottery that brings NHS charities together under one umbrella, helping them raise more money while keeping costs low. For every £1 entry, 60p goes directly to the supporter’s chosen charity, with any additional donations also benefiting that cause.
By taking part, players will be entered into weekly draws featuring a top prize of £1,000, a second prize of £100, 270 £5 prizes and a rollover jackpot of up to £10,000.
Funds raised through the lottery will support our work to enhance care and experiences across local hospitals, funding projects that go beyond what NHS budgets can provide. This includes improving hospital environments, supporting staff wellbeing and investing in equipment and services that benefit patients and their families.
The scheme is fully managed, with licensing, compliance, payments and player support handled centrally, allowing the charity to focus on maximising the impact of the money raised.
Every ticket purchased will help us continue funding projects that make a real difference across our hospitals and communities.

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Meet our Great North Run team! 💚 🧡

We’re delighted to introduce David, Darren, Megan, Gemma and Laura, who will be taking on the iconic Great North Run and helping to make a difference along the way.

David, Darren, Megan and Gemma secured our NHS Charities Together places, while Laura secured her place through the Great North Run ballot. 🎉

All five runners have chosen to fundraise for our Golden Leaves: Together for Dementia appeal, helping us support people in hospital who are living with dementia 💚

A huge thank you to you all for taking on this challenge and supporting such an important cause.

The wonderful team at the Macmillan Information Centre at Scunthorpe Hospital provide invaluable face-to-face emotional support, guidance, practical resources and signposting for patients and their loved ones. The centre also hosts wig fitting clinics, offering comfort and confidence during treatment.

Until recently, the team weren't able to offer patients or their families a simple cup of tea, coffee or a cold drink while they visited ☕ 🫗

Thanks to a wish submitted to us, we're delighted to have funded a fridge for the centre, allowing fresh milk to be stored and chilled water to be readily available.

It may seem like a small addition, but being able to offer a drink creates a warm, welcoming environment where patients feel safe, listened to and supported during what can be an incredibly difficult time.

We're proud to help make this special space even more comforting for everyone who walks through its doors 💚 🧡
