Grimsby And Cleethorpes Model Engineering Society - GCMES We are a model engineering society founded in 1935, based on the Waltham Windmill site in Waltham, Grimsby. There are no paid members of staff.

We are a charitable organisation dedicated to promoting engineering through the construction and operation of model engineering projects. The Grimsby and Cleethorpes Model Engineering Society is based on the Waltham Windmill Site in Waltham, Grimsby. We have a railway catering for locomotives in 31/2'' 5'' and 71/4'' gauge around an inner circle, and 5'' and 71/4'' gauge around the entire track. T

he track is fully operated by members of the society. We rely purely on donations, train rides and membership fees to keep the society going. We have workshop facilities of which are for the use of the members. The signalling system is operated from the signal box. the Point system is pneumatically operated. We have a clubhouse which is used for the monthly meeting and various events. For any other details please feel free to email or message me.

This Sunday we will be running passenger trains from Noon until 4.00pm (last train leaves at 3.50pm)
Tickets are just £2.00 per person (all classes) with a block of 6 tickets for just £10.00. They can be used any time this season except for special events.

Waltham Miniature Railway
Trains will be running once again this Sunday from 12 noon. Last train due out at 3.50pm. Subject to reasonable weather and volunteer availability.
With the warmer weather and recent rains the vegetation is going mad. We are fully committed with keeping it under control by cutting back to keep the lines clear. Much more to running a railway than just playing trains!

This Sunday on public running duties will be Wallis and Holmside. Trains will run from Noon with the last train leaving the Station at 3.50pm.
Train running is subject to suitable weather, volunteer availability and locos remaining operative.
Only tickets bought at our station are valid and are priced at £2.00 (all classes) and may used at anytime this season (except special events).

Waltham Miniature Railway
As its half term this week, we will be running public trains tomorrow (Wednesday) from Noon until 3.00pm. After a prolonged period of maintenance our Class 31 is back in service, seen here with several club members on test! Tickets will the usual £2.00 per person (all classes).
Please note that only the current blue tickets are valid. If you are offered any other tickets at a discount rate away from the railway then they will not be accepted.

Waltham Miniature Railway
This Bank Holiday Monday we will be running the ever popular Driver Experience between 11.00am and 2.00pm. Budding Drivers both young and old get the chance to drive one of our locos. Cost is just £6.00.
There is no prebooking for this event just turn up and pay on the day. Ist come 1st served. There will be limited availability so come early to avoid dissappointment.
Note- We reserve the right to refuse particpation if, in our view, the driver is not capable of operating the controls to our satisfaction.

We will be running public trains this Sunday from noon and Bank Holiday Monday from 11.00am. Tickets are £2.00 per person (all classes) and you can purchase 6 tickets for £10.00 which can be used anytime this year. We will have at least 2 steam engines running on Sunday - Wallis (pictured) and Holmside. On Monday will be Iron Duke and Blanche. In addition the Electric locos Dorothy and Dennis the Diesel will be in operation.
