On 13 August, Adam celebrated a very special milestone—two years of living at his new home.

Reflecting on the past two years, Adam shared that he has not looked back. He feels he has grown in confidence, developed as a person and made positive changes to his life. Adam credits much of this progress to the consistent support of his staff team, the encouragement he receives from colleagues in the office and, importantly, knowing that those around him believe in his abilities.

To mark the occasion, Adam hosted a BBQ for the people who have supported him along the way. He was a fantastic host and took great pride in welcoming everyone and helping to make the celebration enjoyable.

Adam would like to thank everyone who helped bring the day together—whether by tidying, shopping for food, baking treats or preparing the garden. Every contribution was greatly appreciated and helped make the occasion particularly meaningful.

A special thank you also goes to Joe, who managed the cooking throughout the day despite the heat and made sure everyone was well fed!

Congratulations, Adam, on reaching this important milestone. Your progress over the past two years is something to be proud of, and we look forward to seeing what you achieve next. 🎉

What a brilliant day! 🎉

On 8 August, we held our Nurtrio Fun Day at Carr Lane Social Club—and what a turnout we had!

It was fantastic to see so many of our service users, families, staff and friends of Nurtrio all together, enjoying the activities, having a laugh and making some great memories. The day was a huge success, and the smiles in these photos say it all! 💚

A massive thank you to everyone who came along and to all those who worked hard behind the scenes to make it happen.

We’re already looking forward to next year—and we’re planning to make it even bigger and better! 🙌

“Everything is working in my favour and helping me achieve the life I want.”

Huge congratulations to Adam, who has completed the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism — earning an NHS England qualification and stepping into a role where his lived experience will help train other professionals.

The training has had a big impact on Adam’s confidence. He told us how support from the team at Faraway and staff from Nurtrio helped him believe in himself and feel ready to deliver training to others.

Adam also wanted to thank Nurtrio CEO, Jo Barnes for her encouragement: “Thank you to Jo Barnes for asking me to take part in this training and for trusting me to do it. I have come a long way since joining Care4All/Nurtrio over six years ago. Everything is working in my favour and helping me achieve the life I want.”

He’s had positive updates around his support too, helping him feel more stable and ready for what’s next.

It’s been lovely to see so many service users out and about over the last few weeks, enjoying the sunshine, spending time together and making some brilliant memories. 💚

We’ve had a service user enjoying his very first holiday with Nurtrio, a BBQ joined by some of our SMT team, another great Tilly Boat trip, and service users getting involved in Armed Forces Weekend.

A big thank you to all the staff who help make these things happen — from the planning and organising to being there on the day. It makes such a difference and it’s clear from the smiles just how much these moments mean.

A brilliant few weeks of sunshine, community and making memories across Nurtrio.

💚 Brave the Shave for Macmillan 💚

A couple of weeks ago, Nanette and her son Chase took part in Brave the Shave at Grimsby Leisure Centre in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.

They were joined by a brilliant group of people cheering them on, including Michaela from PASS, who Nanette supports, Amy and Annette from Carer Breaks, and Jess from Amour Beauty.

A special thank you goes to Jess, who generously gave up her day off to shave both Nanette’s and Chase’s hair — and even waived her fee so the money could be donated directly to Macmillan.

In another lovely act of kindness, Nanette’s long hair was plaited and cut ready to be donated to The Little Princess Trust.

Well done Nanette and Chase — what an incredible thing to do. 💚

Nurtrio is delighted to be attending today’s National Learning Disability Week event in North East Lincolnshire.

It’s a lovely community day celebrating people with learning disabilities, their achievements, and the importance of everyone feeling seen and heard.

There’ll be lots going on, including refreshments, information and guidance, arts and crafts, tabletop cricket, Grimsby Town Football Club, the Linkage Sensory Bus, and hopefully Mighty Mariner too!

The event is running until 3pm today, and everyone is welcome. Please come along, say hello, and join in.
