The September meeting at Rigg is usually a very busy night with the payment of membership fees and the issue of our new syllabus for 2026/2027. So, it was great to have Alison Orr as our speaker who calmed the whole evening down and treated us to a night of relaxation and calm. Alison Orr is a manager for Templespa and many of you may be familiar with their range in hotels. The company also retails its products in Harrods so we were treated to luxury for the evening. Alison brings the spa experience to you and she brought a range of products which could either energise or have a calming effect. We got to try lots of lovely treatments which are based on aromatherapy. Alisons last job for the evening was to judge our competition which she managed very ably.
An old remedy: 1st Frances Glendinning, 2nd Frances Thomlinson , 3rd Olive McKinnel .
A hat: 1st Jennifer Alexander, 2nd Marjorie Ashburn, 3rd Olive McKinnel

Our next meeting will be held on the 12th October at the Richard Greenhow Centre at 7pm when Shannon Gibson, solicitor will discuss legal matters. Competitions are 3 pieces of Chocolate Brownie, Pair of Earrings. New members are always welcome.

Rigg ladies gathered on another lovely summer evening meeting in August and were treated to a talk by the very talented Lorraine Priestley about Encaustic Art. Lorraine is well known in the Annan area and further afield for Bee Keeping and was introduced to this form of art by a friend when she borrowed her book on the subject. The art has been around for 2500 years and was especially popular with the Egyptians who used encaustic art to depict the faces of kings and queens on their mummies. Lorraine then demonstrated the art of coloured beeswax melted on a flat iron and applied to paper to create beautiful landscapes. Lorraine then very ably judged our competitions for the evening.

A bee, any craft: 1st Jennifer Alexander, 2nd Marjorie Ashburn , 3rd Donna Thompson .

A candle: 1st Marjorie Ashburn, 2nd Janet Harrison- Seath, 3rd Frances Glendinning

Our next meeting will be held on the 14th September at the Richard Greenhow Centre at 7pm where Alison Orr will treat us to a Wellness and Spa Session. Competitions are An Old Fashioned Remedy, and A Hat

At the weekend our fantastic ladies from the lower Annandale group got together for the Jenkins cup competition. Thank you so much to the lovely judges who donated their time to give us great feedback on our entries and chose our winning entries. Congratulations to Waterbeck and Creca for taking part but I’m pleased to say Rigg managed to win the overall trophy this year. Thank you to everyone for all the hard work.
