Social anxiety in children is increasingly prevalent, and early intervention is key to helping them develop healthy social skills. When children feel overwhelmed by social interactions but try to hide their anxiety, it can lead to greater emotional distress over time, making everyday activities challenging. Addressing social anxiety early can help children learn coping mechanisms, build confidence, and form positive relationships.
Recognising early signs, like avoidance of group activities, frequent complaints of feeling ill before social events, or excessive worrying about social situations. Encouraging open communication, fostering a supportive environment, and seeking professional guidance when necessary can help mitigate the impact of social anxiety. 🧡

"I don't want to go to school because I don't want to walk through the gates and have everyone stare at me."

Believe it or not, thoughts like this can spark worry and anxiety, which is far from the ideal feeling when starting at a new school or entering a new year group.

It's important for children to develop strategies and tools to help them manage everyday worries and challenges.

At AMAS – Active Minds and Souls, we offer workshops where children learn essential tools to overcome the emotional and social challenges they face daily.

📚✨ TIPS FOR YOUR CHILD'S/TEEN'S FIRAT DAY OF SCHOOL 🎒

We understand that while some children have already started school, others are just about to begin. This can be a daunting experience for many. Your child or teen may experience a wide range of emotions, especially worry, which can sometimes lead to anxiety—and that’s completely normal.

It’s crucial to support your child through this emotional journey. By being present and offering reassurance, you can help them navigate these feelings and ease their transition into this new phase of life.

1️⃣ Stay Positive: Encourage your child to view the first day/ week as an exciting adventure. Your positive energy will help ease their nerves! 🌈

2️⃣ Talk About Their Day Ahead: Go over what the day might look like—new friends, teachers, and fun activities. This helps ease uncertainty and builds excitement! 💬

3️⃣ Remind Them It’s Okay to Be Nervous: Let your child know it’s completely normal to feel a bit anxious. Everyone feels the same way on their first day! 💙

4️⃣ Pack a Comfort Item: A small, familiar item in their bag (like a keychain or note from you for older ones) can provide a sense of security during the day. 🧸

5️⃣ Focus on Making Friends: Encourage them to say "hi" to someone new. A friendly smile can lead to a great friendship! 😊

6️⃣ Trust They’ll Do Great: Your confidence in them will boost their confidence in themselves. Remind them that they are brave and capable! 💪

Good luck, little one—you’ve got this! 🎉✨

Wouldn't it be amazing if our children always got along? But we can't expect them to get along a the time, just like adults don't always see eye to eye. The good news is that it's not all bad! What better place to learn how to negotiate and manage conflict than in a loving family? It's important to handle disagreements productively so that everyone comes away having learned something. Tips to manage conflict among your children: 1. Stay Calm and Neutral
2. Encourage Communication
3. Set Clear Boundaries (what behaviour and language is not acceptable)
4. Promote Problem-Solving
5. Model Positive Behavior
6. Give Each Child Individual Attention when possible
7. Praise Positive Interactions
8. Teach Empathy
9. Take a Break if Needed 10. Be Consistent. 🧡

SPANISH LESSONS 🇪🇸 ON THE ISLE OF DOGS

Our SPANISH SESSIONS are based on a NATURAL APPROACH - a method of second language learning that focuses on communication skills and language exposure before rules and grammar, similar to how children learn their first language.

During our sessions we promote and enhance children’s emotional, social and critical thinking skills so they can become the best version of themselves. ✨️✨️

AMAS mission is inspiring children to take ownership of their own metal wellbeing, so that they become emotionally sustainable children💪💪.

Exam results don’t define a child’s worth or potential. They don’t measure essential qualities like resilience, emotional intelligence, or critical thinking. Exams are merely a chapter in a child’s life, not the entire story. Unfortunately, the pressure schools place on children often backfire, leading to anxiety, negative self-talk, and low self-esteem. Many children struggle to perform well because they haven’t been equipped with the tools to manage these feelings effectively.

At AMAS 🧡 we offer a safe and supportive space where children can freely express themselves without fear of judgment. In this environment, children are encouraged to share their thoughts, opinions, and feelings, knowing that they will be taken seriously. Through open discussion, they are guided to develop their own reflections and solutions, fostering clarity in their thinking. This clarity is crucial for their mental well-being, as it boosts their confidence by helping them understand and articulate what they want and need. Provide your children with lifelong skills! 🌍✨ RIGHT and WRONG:
A Personal Perspective ✨🌍

What’s “right” for one person might be completely different for another. Our beliefs, values, and experiences shape how we see the world. Understanding this is crucial to living peacefully and happily—not just with others, but within ourselves.

Instead of judging, let’s strive to understand each other’s perspectives. When we teach our children to embrace the diversity of thought and respect each other's rights and wrongs, we teach them to create a space where everyone feels valued. We must teach them that this doesn’t mean we always agree, but we choose COMPASSION over CONFLICT and EMPATHY over JUDGMENT.

By being more permissive and open-hearted, we build bridges of understanding and foster harmony in our lives and communities. Let’s walk this path together, hand in hand. 💫🕊️
