What a fantastic week it’s been for our Beach Lifeguard course! 🌊☀️

Led by our brilliant club coach Sam Every, the team has been putting in the hard work and making the most of some amazing weather. With conditions on their side, it’s now all about focus and determination as they prepare for their assessment this Saturday 💪

A huge thank you to Gt. Yarmouth & Gorleston Sailing Club for their incredible hospitality and for allowing us to use their fantastic facilities throughout the week – we really appreciate your support!

Last week our club coaches, Sam & Josh, were recognised by our governing body Surf Life Saving GB for their commitment to surf lifesaving and their contribution to us at Waveney SLSC.

The twins, who have been part of Waveney SLSC since joining our youth programme, have developed their pathway into becoming lead coaches for our youth and senior programmes.

🏆 🏆 We’re incredibly proud to share that Waveney Surf Life Saving Club has been recognised with a High Sheriff’s Award.

Receiving this recognition in our 10th year as a club makes it even more meaningful. What began as a small group with a vision to bring lifesaving skills, confidence and community spirit to our coastline has grown into something truly special.

This award belongs to every one of our volunteers, supporters, parents and members who have helped build the club over the past decade. From coaching and organising sessions, to supporting events and encouraging our young lifesavers, your time, energy and dedication make everything we do possible. Thank you — this recognition is for you. 💚🖤

We’re also delighted to share that alongside the award, the club will receive a £1,500 grant from the High Sheriff Fund. This support will help us continue developing lifesaving skills, training young people and keeping our coastline safer for everyone.

Thank you as well to Suffolk Community Foundation for the fantastic video they have gifted to the club – we’re excited to share it soon.

Congratulations to all the other organisations recognised, and thank you to everyone who continues to support Waveney SLSC.

Club legends Kathy and Sam have been delivering Surf Life Saving GB’s new Splash School at Great Yarmouth Charter Academy.

The school session is aimed to get school children educated in water safety and how to enjoy the water safely. The class spend half the day in the class room then out to the beach and then into the pool for a float and rescue session!

On the 25th April, one of our incredible clubbies, Ella, is swimming a continuous 20-kilometre ultra-marathon in an outdoor pool to raise funds for Waveney Surf Lifesaving Club.

Since 2016 the club has been steadily growing. In the last year, we have taken on an old Inshore Rescue Boat, Mystie, with the goal of racing at the UK IRB Nationals in the coming years and providing water safety cover for events across the UK.

Every donation from Ella's non-stop 20km swim will go directly towards:
• Boat maintenance and repairs
• Engine servicing and fuel costs
• Safety equipment
• Training costs
• General club equipment and maintenance

Taking on this incredible challenge will make such a huge difference to our club and how we can develop this aspect of both water safety and new dimensions of competition in future.

Tonight we came together for our Christmas Bingo and Awards evening. A huge congratulations to all of our clubbies with some incredible Bronze and Silver Nipper Awards and the individual awards across each of the squads, sportsperson and clubbie of the year award. Some very deserving winners! 🏆

A huge shout out to our friends at East Point Pavilion for hosting our event and to everyone who played a role in organising the evening. It was an incredible turnout for our final event of 2025, a massive thanks to everyone who joined us this evening ⭐🌲

What an incredible first day at the Eastern Regionals Surf Lifesaving Championships in Southwold.

A huge congratulations to our Nipper and Academy squads, who competed with determination and heart in some seriously challenging conditions. 🌧💨

They battled torrential rain and powerful winds, but still delivered epic performances and brought home plenty of medals. 🏅🌊

We are extremely proud of each and every one of you — your resilience, teamwork, and sportsmanship were on full display.

We are excited for tomorrow when we see our Youth, Open and Masters squads join the competition. Let's go Waveney! 🌊
