📣 Our funding round opens today!

If you are considering applying to us, you might be wondering how to best get your point across in our application form...

The best way for you to tell us about your project is in your own words, focusing on exactly what your project will involve and how it will make a positive difference to your community and local environment. We don't need or expect your application to sound highly polished or professional, and it doesn't matter to us if there are things like spelling mistakes or grammatical errors. The most important thing is that we hear your voice and get accurate details about your project.

However, we recognise that some people may choose to get some help with finding the right words to get their point across, for example by using Artificial Intelligence (AI) or a professional bid writer. If you do this, please remember that you must ensure that everything in your application is true and accurate, and that the use of any kind of assistance hasn't resulted in the inclusion of false, inaccurate, or misleading content of any kind. Unfortunately, if we find that your application contains such content, we may have to withdraw it.

We're always here to help you make your application the best it can be, so if you would like some guidance on anything to do with the application process, please speak to one of our team -

Whether you’re thinking about applying for funding, have a question about your successful project, or just want to learn more about what we do, we can help… Want to find out more about The Veolia Environmental Trust? Will you be taking part in the RSPB this weekend?

It's a great opportunity to help the RSPB understand how wild birds are faring, and all from the comfort of your own garden!

Members of the Veolia Environmental Trust team are looking forward to taking part, and we hope to be able to post a few pics of the birds we've spotted 🐦

Every survey counts. Tell us what you saw by 22 February.

Our recent grant via the Landfill Communities Fund went a long way to transform Hadnall Bowling Club.

After 30 years of service, their small clubhouse could no longer meet the community's needs, accommodating only a handful of people at a time.

The funding resulted in the club replacing their timber clubhouse with a much larger space by repurposing 3 old shipping containers.

The project has resulted in a sustainable and accessible hub for the club and the local community by:

🌞 Installing solar panels with 4kWh battery storage
⚡ Reduce grid energy consumption to near enough zero
♿ Becoming fully accessible with wheelchair access and disabled facilities
🤝 The ability to host additional community groups

From 7-year-olds to 90-year-olds, this inclusive space demonstrates how our funding, with the knowledge of local communities creates lasting impact.

Martin (our Grants Manager) and his family, got hands on with the new play equipment at Moseley Old Hall - National Trust.

In September 2024, our Trustees awarded a grant of £32,755 to increase the play area, including music and storytelling spaces, teepees and a log tunnel promoting natural play. The new equipment is a big upgrade and allows a much wider scope for play for children of varying ages.

The improvements also enhance the existing climbing facilities and form part of a larger project at the site to improve biodiversity. New wildflower areas were created along with tree and shrub planting, more defined footpaths to protect these habitats as well as increase accessibility.

“Bosnia House is like a second home to the Bosnian community.”

Starting with just a corner shop in 2006, Bosnia House has grown to support refugees from Bosnia, Syria, and Ukraine. They've transformed a former police station into a thriving community hub.

'Someone can ask me to make an appointment or to phone someone or to translate some documents... Of course I'm always ready to help,' explains one of the volunteers who offers English language lessons at the centre, highlighting the practical support available to newcomers navigating life in a new country.

The Veolia Environmental Trust provided £75,000 via the Landfill Communities Fund to help install double-glazing across nearly 100 windows, making the building more energy-efficient and creating a warmer space for community activities.

As they beautifully put it: 'People come in with all these traumas, you have to help them, to give them an opportunity to rebuild their lives.' 💙

We’re so proud to see all the wonderful work that Kirkstall Valley Farm has achieved with the £57,000 grant we awarded them via the Landfill Communities Fund.

The funding has helped them to:
✨ Install solar panels on the volunteer workshop for their own source of renewable energy
✨ Create facilities and learning spaces for the community
✨ Deliver workshops spaces for 70+ dedicated volunteers
✨ Build the needed storage for their growing operations.

On Tuesday, our Trustees met at the Speke Training and Education Centre (STEC) in Liverpool. In 2022, STEC were awarded a grant of £35,000 to create a community memorial garden which Mark Ord (CEO at STEC) was keen to show us round.

At the meeting, the Trustees made a further 28 conditional grant awards, totalling just over £1.5m to community and environmental projects across England.

From solar panels at community buildings to upgraded play areas, sports club changing facilities and nature reserve improvements, including the creation of a beaver enclosure in Staffordshire, our funding, via the Landfill Communities Fund, continues to improve wellbeing in the community, to enhance biodiversity and reduce CO2 emissions.
