Following a very successful and well-attended Spring Weekend our Summer Retreat booking will open very soon.
Dates are Sunday 26 July to Saturday 1 August. Residential and Non-residential places will be available and we may be able to offer a number of part-week places.
Our Summer Retreat for 2026 will be held at our new venue at the Chartered Institute of Marketing in the picturesque riverside Berkshire village of Cookham.
The Summer Retreat is slightly different in format from our weekends and is aimed at modellers who have projects that they wish to pursue. The week is not run as a tutored course, but we have a few of our tutors on hand to offer advice and assistance with your project.

Well...when Missenden Abbey closed our residential modelling courses faced an uncertain future...12 months on and after much hard work we have just had our first weekend at the Chartered Institute of Marketing at Cookham.....it seemed like a success although we await feedback from the 66 railway modellers who attended....we also had our final full weekend Backscene and scenery course tutored by Paul Bambrick although he and his expertise will remain involved.... our thanks to everyone who attended and all of our excellent tutors.

A suitably seasonal modelling tip from Pelle Soeborg for anybody working with cork (or corks).....along with best wishes to all from the Missenden team for Christmas and the year ahead.

What a good day spent at day 1 of the Manchester Model Reailway Exhibition. It was nice to catch up with so many Missenden tutors and regular course members....my hastily assembled album is below but the content may be subject to the layouts I found and could also get close to....so apologies for any omissions..

We have just returned from a final weekend at the Abbey.

We ran a selection of railway modelling courses with the normal expert and enthusiastic contributons from tutors and course members alike.

For an event so close to the closure of the Abbey we felt we were very well looked after indeed and our heartfelt thanks and best wishes go out to all the staff there.

We are very sorry to be leaving the Abbey after 44 great years at a wonderful venue.

We enjoyed our last summer week in late July.

Our last event at the Abbey will be our Autumn weekend from 7th to 9th November which has extremely limited availability with all bedrooms taken.

However we are delighted to announce that Missenden Railway Modellers has found a new venue for its future courses. Our new home will be the Chartered Institute of Marketing which is situated in Cookham conveniently located between the M4 and M40 and which offers similar facilities to the Abbey.

The first event at the new venue will be our Spring 2026 weekend from the evening of Friday 13th to the afternoon of Sunday 15th of March 2026.

We have managed to maintain our existing prices for both residential and non-residential places and we are offering the following courses:

4mm and smaller Locomotive & Kit Construction with Tony Gee & Tim Watson
7mm and larger Locomotive & Kit Construction with Kevin Wilson
Back Scenes and Scenery with Paul Bambrick
Structure Modelling with Jerry Clifford
Semaphore Signals with Karl Crowther
DCC sound and lighting with Mick Moignard
Weathering (including Airbrushing) with Chris Hopper

Bookings are open now.

Our exhibition stand will be at GOG and Scaleforum in September so if you want to know more you can chat to one of us there.

We will maintain the "Missenden" identity but will now be the Missenden Railway Modellers.
