The Future of Online Safety: Young People's Priorities, Policy Updates and the Critical Role of Youth WorkTraining opportunity from UK Youth
Friday 30th Oct at 10-11am which I thought might be interesting for some of the orgs you support.

The session will be joined by researchers from Savanta to explore what young people told the government through the Growing Up in the Online World consultation, the latest online safety policy developments, and what these mean for youth work practice. AND some colleagues from the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) will also be joining to listen to the questions and areas where youth organisations need greater clarity. All feedback will help inform a new factsheet and myth-busting resource for those working with young people.

🎙️ New Whole Family Approach Resources Now Available

Supporting children often means supporting the people around them too.

The Essex Safeguarding Children Board and the Essex Adult Safeguarding Board, alongside wider safeguarding partners, have launched a range of Whole Family Approach resources designed to help practitioners better understand and respond to the needs of children, adults and families. The toolkit promotes a family-led, collaborative and prevention-focused approach to achieving better outcomes.

The Whole Family Approach Toolkit includes:

✅ A 7-Minute Briefing
✅ A Whole Family Approach Charter
✅ Case studies and reflection resources
✅ A Whole Family Approach Podcast series (episode one is available now!)

By understanding the whole family context, services can work together more effectively to identify strengths, address challenges and provide the right support at the right time.

💛 THE LISTENING PROJECT AT BRENTWOOD COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL

Our team have been at Brentwood County High School as part of the Youth Voice Listening Project, giving young people the opportunity to share their views on issues affecting them and their communities.

The project explores young people’s experiences and views around youth violence, feeling safe locally, exploitation, social media, crime hotspots and what they would like to see more of for young people in their area.

We want young people to know that their voices matter. Their feedback is anonymous and helps inform local decisions and future funding.

As well as delivering the Listening Project for Brentwood, we are also involved as the Youth Resource Networker for Brentwood, connecting young people, services and opportunities across our community.

🗣️ Young people know their communities best. We are here to listen.
A huge thank you to the young people at Brentwood County High School for getting involved and sharing their views. 💛
