Bedford and Ouse Valley District Scouts are fortunate to have a District Scout Activity Centre for their use. The site is in Great Barford and offers 1.25 acres of camping field together with a slipway and landing stage with access to the River Great Ouse. There is a purpose built toilet block, which has hot water and showers including facilities for those with special needs. The main building is

There is a well equipped kitchen. Site activities include Rafting, Canoeing, Kayaking, Pulling, climbing, Pioneering, Archery and an indoor shooting range. Alternatively, places of interest in the area include the Shuttleworth Aircraft Collection at Old Warden, the Imperial War Museum at Duxford (between Royston and Cambridge – the home of Concorde 101), Linton Zoo, the Priory Country Park in Bedford and, of course, the historic County Town of Bedford. London is approximately an hour away by train from Bedford or St Neots. The village is a short walk or drive from the site and has a Post Office and Village Shop, Chinese Restaurant/Take Away and a village pub serving food at lunchtimes and evenings. The village is served by Stagecoach United Counties buses including the X5 service running between Oxford and Cambridge. The site is situated just off the A428 close to the A1 at Black Cat Roundabout and not far from the M1 motorway at Junction 13. The nearest railway stations are Bedford (East Midlands Trains or First Capital Connect from London St Pancras), St Neots and Sandy (both First Capital Connect from London Kings Cross or Peterborough).
