Update on Sandy Lane.

Following a complaint about the recent burnt out caravan, and after numerous abandoned caravans and instances of fly tipping, we are pleased to report the following:

Serious public safety concerns means that Sandy Lane is being prioritised for Enforcement. They are assessing whether CCTV can be deployed there, and looking at possible physical deterrents to stop vehicles entering vulnerable areas. Bollards won’t be used, as they’re unsafe in the event of an accident on a 50mph road, but alternatives will be considered.
The Council will also work with Essex Police and Fire Service to prosecute any criminal activity. They will obviously continue with clearances when necessary, but will prioritise the area going forward for enforcement activity.

Hopefully we will now see an improvement there, not just in the case of abandoned caravans but the repeated fly tipping that takes place.

Thanks to everyone who has reported these matters over time, this response is now welcome, albeit a long time coming!

There’s a lot of misinformation going around about this Thursday’s election.

To be clear, this vote is not about changing the government.

See below for what the election is actually for.

Today, Labour's Renters' Rights Act comes into force.

For thousands of families in Thurrock, renting is about to become fairer, more secure, and more affordable.

❌No more bidding wars. It will be illegal to request, encourage or accept offers above the set price.
💷 Landlords will not be allowed to ask for more than one month’s rent upfront.
🏠No more “no-fault” evictions. All evictions will require valid grounds.
💼Landlords will have to give at least four months notice when ending a tenancy to sell.

📢 Community Update – Tamar Drive, Kennington Estate

As part of our “Keep Aveley and Kennington Clean” campaign, and following ongoing engagement with the council, I’m pleased to share that a new litter bin has been installed outside Kenningtons Primary Academy on Tamar Drive.

We will continue working closely with residents to help keep Aveley and Kennington clean, tidy, and a place we can all be proud of 🌿✨
