Update on Sandy Lane.
Following a complaint about the recent burnt out caravan, and after numerous abandoned caravans and instances of fly tipping, we are pleased to report the following:
Serious public safety concerns means that Sandy Lane is being prioritised for Enforcement. They are assessing whether CCTV can be deployed there, and looking at possible physical deterrents to stop vehicles entering vulnerable areas. Bollards won’t be used, as they’re unsafe in the event of an accident on a 50mph road, but alternatives will be considered.
The Council will also work with Essex Police and Fire Service to prosecute any criminal activity. They will obviously continue with clearances when necessary, but will prioritise the area going forward for enforcement activity.
Hopefully we will now see an improvement there, not just in the case of abandoned caravans but the repeated fly tipping that takes place.
Thanks to everyone who has reported these matters over time, this response is now welcome, albeit a long time coming!
