The Grand Healthy Living Centre We're a Healthy Living Centre and home to GYG youth services. Pop in and say hello. We work across Gravesham.

We support the needs of adults and young people, working across Gravesham in Kent on all sorts of projects - from free exercise to singing and mental health. The Grand was set-up in 2001 as a multi-partner agency working across the borough. Since then we have established a successful youth service, helped hundreds of people get online and learn how to use the internet, assisted people in their sea

rch for a new job and helped people lose weight and quit smoking. We work with every secondary school in the borough, manage community events, run a community allotment and have produced an annual youth performance at the Woodville theatre for the past 10 years. Our work and objectives change as local needs change and funding is available, but we constantly strive to assist residents with their physical, emotional and mental health, both here at the Grand or by referring people to partner or local organisations who are best placed to help. Our base is within the Gravesend Methodist Church Community Centre and many of our services are based here. But we also run our workshops and classes in different spaces and locations in the local area. Our exercise classes take place at NWK Crossfit gym on Brewhouse Lane in Gravesend town centre (just off of Queen Street), while our tech classes take place here at the Grand and at St Aiden's Church and the Gurdwara in Gravesend town centre. In summer months we run sessions outside in the parks and outdoor gyms. Our GYG youth workshops and youth clubs take place at:

Methodist Church, Gravesend town centre Higham Memorial Hall, Higham Meopham and Cobham. We are involved in different pop-up events in the borough, from Fort Gardens to The Enchanted Garden in Northfleet.

GRAVESHAM & NORTHFLEET: WE WANT YOUR STORIES!
No experience required!

Ever looked at your tired old trainers after a long walk and thought, "If those shoes could talk, they’d have a few things to say"? 😂

Now is your chance to give them a voice!
Welcome to the Gravesham Diaries, a brand new, completely free community competition for absolutely everyone.

Whether you’re 6 years old or 86, we want you to bring a local object or place to life.

How to join the fun in 3 simple steps:

1️⃣ Get Moving: Go for a walk in the local area, head to the gym, play with the kids in the garden, or kick a ball about.

2️⃣ Pick your Narrator: Choose an object or place that was there with you (your water bottle, a football, a park bench, or your keys!).

3️⃣ Tell Their Story: Imagine that object has eyes and feelings. What did it see? Did it find the walk tiring? What did it notice about our amazing local community?

Express it your way!
You don't have to be a writer. You can write a short story or poem (up to 1,000 words), film a quick 3-to-5-minute video on your phone, or draw/paint a picture!

Prizes & The Big Celebration!

Entries gets to be a part of the Gravesham Diaries Community Showcase and Fun Day on Wednesday 26th August at The Hive in Northfleet!

We're talking food stalls, live music, a disco, a photobooth, and our official winners' ceremony.
