What if the people we often think of as needing support are actually the ones with the most to teach us?

Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of being Artist in Residence at Darent Valley Hospital (DVH) running projects through Hope On Prescription and I am proud to announce I have been working alongside Rosetta Life to deliver creative dance and singing sessions as part of a larger national touring project: Learn from Us - a new dance theatre work, exploring the lessons and
laughter of life after brain injury.

It has been an honour to learn from such an inspiring organisation and to be part of creating beautiful, creative spaces within the hospital. I am looking forward to this incredible performance they have coming up!

On Wednesday 10th June at 7pm, Rosetta Life brings their powerful new dance theatre production, Learn From Us, to The Woodville Theatre, Gravesend.

Learn From Us is a moving and uplifting performance created with and performed by people living with brain injury. Through dance, storytelling and lived experience, the show explores resilience, identity, humour and the lessons that emerge when life takes an unexpected turn.

As one participant shares, "I am a better person." Another reflects, "I am stronger now."

If you've ever wondered how art can transform lives, challenge perceptions and create meaningful connection, I would highly recommend coming along.

Rosetta Life:
At the heart of our work is the belief that creativity offers us the imagination to dream new futures: arts and health programmes can find solutions for our health and social crises, offering friendship and community where there is isolation, hope where there is depression and anxiety, mobility, agency and voice and meaning where life seems without purpose.

Research: 2024 marked the end of Rosetta Life’s participation in SHAPER, (Scaling-up Health Arts Programmes: Implementation and Effectiveness Research). Critical Ethnographic and Implementation Science Research led by Dr Jean Harrington from Kings College London showed significant improvement in the cognitive health and the physical, psychological and social well-being of people who have experienced stroke, together with noteworthy improvement in emotional well-being, including enabling the experience of thriving through the medium of performance.
