Are you thinking of joining Freemasonry?
Do you live in the Gravesend area?
Come and join us at New Era, here's a little bit about our lodge:
Dunkirk, The Battle of Britain, The Blitz and D-Day were all in the recent memory of the Brethren when New Era lodges first regular meeting was held on Wednesday November 1st 1944. There were 34 attendees plus 3 initiations on the night. A ballet was also carried for 7 joining members from either Lodge of Sympathy No.483 or our Mother Lodge, McCartney Lodge No. 3283. Those Brethren saw that a New Era was dawning and recognised that a new lodge, with that name, would be a wonderful way to represent this.
The lodge is currently 76 years old, but we are still a young, vibrant and dynamic lodge at heart. The spirit of our founding members evolving through those difficult times is still encouraged and promoted within the lodge to aid the continued succession of Freemasons in New Era, who in recent years have proven to come together to adapt and overcome through adversity.
The older, more experienced, members have instilled a passion for learning the Emulation ritual to a high standard that the younger, newer brethren, strive to achieve. Most offices are currently filled by ‘light blue’ members, their energy and passion for the lodge has enabled us to enjoy some great meetings followed by some wonderful festive boards. We have organised many memorable social and charitable events that have enabled the members to forge friendships that continue outside of the lodge.
