What a fantastic day filled with fun, learning and skill building.
We began the day by supporting one of our participants with a shopping trip encouraging real world decision making, money handling and navigating social environments independently. From there, we headed to Chatham Bowling where he had a brilliant game, proudly scoring 99 points! After bowling, we explored the arcade together, taking turns, sharing tokens and building social confidence through play.
Later in the day, we took our Shaypes pup Kiara 🩷🫶🐾👑 for a relaxing walk. As it was a hot afternoon, we gave her a chance to cool off and have some playful sensory fun in the paddling pool.
Back at base, we focused on key life skills essential for empowering neurodivergent adults to live more independently. Our participants:
• Loaded and programmed the washing machine, learning how to understand temperature settings
• Hung washing on the line and later brought it in, learning to check for dryness and fold clothing neatly
• Helped prepare lunch, practising basic cooking techniques, timing and food safety
Every task today was purposeful and tailored to develop real life skills in a calm, supportive environment. Our goal is to build confidence and independence step by step while having fun along the way.
