🐾✨ A Wonderful Day at Howletts Wildlife Park ✨🐾

Today we visited Howletts Wildlife Park and spent the day exploring as many amazing animals as possible 🦁🐘🦍

Participant SEJ really enjoyed the experience, taking time at each enclosure to look closely, listen, and stay engaged with the different animals and environments. We focused on building attention and listening skills throughout the day in a natural, enjoyable setting 🌿👀

We paused for a healthy, tasty lunch and finished the visit with even more time discovering the wildlife before heading home full of great memories 🥗💚

We visited the Odeon Cinema Maidstone to watch Sheep Detective, followed by a lovely walk and lunch at PizzaExpress Maidstone. 🍕🎬

During the day, we focused on developing listening and communication skills. As reading can sometimes be challenging, we practised these skills in real-life situations, including ordering food while considering health, fitness, and allergies. It was a great opportunity to build confidence, independence, and social interaction skills in a fun and supportive environment. 😊

🎶 Summer Heat & Pure Joy in One Moment 🌞This is Paul, one of the wonderful adults we support at Shaypes where we empower neurodivergent adults including those with autism and epilepsy to thrive, connect and express themselves. When “Summer Heat” by Jay Productions & NeeCee came on during our drive, Paul lit up and said 🥁 “Can we film me dancing?” So we pressed record and here he is, in our garden, absolutely loving the vibes. He said, “This is my best summer yet.” 💃🧡We would love to share this moment with Jay Productions as a collab post because if this music can move Paul like that, imagine what we could create together. Maybe a music video spotlighting Paul’s incredible dance moves? Let’s make the world move together. DM us if you are up for it.

Kiran and PG had an incredible day at Port Lympne Zoo! 🦁🦒 From spotting majestic Tigers to wandering through the world’s largest gorillarium, every moment was packed with amazing wildlife and breathtaking views.

Exploring the vast 600 acre reserve up close brought an unforgettable sense of adventure and wonder.

If you love animals and nature, this is a must-visit! 🌿🐾

What a fantastic day filled with fun, learning and skill building.

We began the day by supporting one of our participants with a shopping trip encouraging real world decision making, money handling and navigating social environments independently. From there, we headed to Chatham Bowling where he had a brilliant game, proudly scoring 99 points! After bowling, we explored the arcade together, taking turns, sharing tokens and building social confidence through play.

Later in the day, we took our Shaypes pup Kiara 🩷🫶🐾👑 for a relaxing walk. As it was a hot afternoon, we gave her a chance to cool off and have some playful sensory fun in the paddling pool.

Back at base, we focused on key life skills essential for empowering neurodivergent adults to live more independently. Our participants:
• Loaded and programmed the washing machine, learning how to understand temperature settings
• Hung washing on the line and later brought it in, learning to check for dryness and fold clothing neatly
• Helped prepare lunch, practising basic cooking techniques, timing and food safety

Every task today was purposeful and tailored to develop real life skills in a calm, supportive environment. Our goal is to build confidence and independence step by step while having fun along the way.
