Today members of the local istead rise community organisations (IRCA, Istead Park Project, Petanque and Co-Op) met to discuss the ongoing concerns with antisocial behaviour increase on the rise surrounding the park and shops.
We were joined by the Community Warden, Kent Police and GBC.
The Istead Park Project we are looking to work with IRCA on boosting the CCTV to reach the park. We are also in talks with GBC regarding flood lighting of the field and facility zones.
Following talks with Kent Police it is more important to report any abuse, crime or offences being committed via 101, the more that is reported the more presence we have from them in the area as we are currently seen as a low level crime spot due to lack of reported activity.
Please refrain from posting children pictures to social media as people can be wrongly and unfairly accused of offences that have been committed by others. We urge if you feel threatened in anyway to ring 999 and not to wait for 101.
The Co-Op would also like to thank the community for their continued support and ask if you can help be their eyes as they don't always see, should you witness any shoplifting to report it to a member of their team (you don't need to give your details across only the date, time and description of the offender) so they can check back on CCTV and report it to the police.
We have met this week to discuss having bicycle track installed on a small corner of the recreation grounds to give children an area of safe play. We are awaiting plans for this and need to discuss further with GBC and landowner for this. We hope it will keep our young people busy, active and help them find new skills.
Hope to progress with more updates soon ! π
