Inspiring children into sport and educating them about our amazing rural countryside. Working with disadvantaged and special needs children

16/10/2026

Our new hub has been a hive of activity this week with painters, electricians and National Grid all on site.
The Belvoir Pavilion is not just for the charity and Belvoir Cricket Club, it's for the Vale community as well - offering a safe, warm, accessible place to meet, learn, play, and belong.
We have raised nearly £14k towards the final £50k needed to get the doors wide open to welcome you. Go to https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/bestfinalpush to read about the appeal and make a difference today. Thank you!

We are delighted to announce we have been awarded £3,000 by the Leicestershire & Rutland Community Foundation. The grant, from its Making Local Life Better Fund, will go towards making Lily's position with the Trust a permanent role.
Lily joined us as a sports apprentice in September 2025 and is now qualified as a Level 4 Sports Coach with Distinction! She is a great asset to BEST, a super role model for young girls and is already taking the lead in more sessions, increasing our coaching capacity and helping us get more children active.

We are delighted to have received a £1,000 donation from the Trent Bridge Taverners towards our new community, education and sports hub in the heart of the Vale of Belvoir.
The Taverners have been supporting grassroots cricket initiatives since 1985 and are keen to hear from cricket clubs that are getting less help from traditional grant sources.
The hub, at Belvoir Cricket Ground, Knipton, will:
* Super-charge the work of our charity, inspiring thousands of children to lead healthy, active lives through sport, especially cricket, and countryside education
* Give Belvoir Cricket Club a home worthy of its history and future
* Open for community use, becoming a vital asset for everyone in the Vale.
For more, play the video at https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/bestfinalpush and make a difference like the Trent Bridge Taverners.

BEST has launched a Charity Partners initiative as we seek to inspire many more children through sport and countryside education. The aim is to create ‘brighter futures together’, giving youngsters opportunities to play, learn and grow outside the classroom.
Aligning your business to BEST has many benefits. As a charity partner you will be part of something meaningful, helping to improve young lives, address rural isolation and tackle disadvantage.
It’s also a great way to raise your brand’s visibility, boost community engagement and give opportunities for your team and customers to connect with a great cause.
• For more information about becoming a BEST Charity Partner visit https://www.support-best.org/get-involved/charity-partners/ email [email protected] or call 07825 992406.

The cricket summer may have just concluded, but the indoor Table Cricket season is just getting started. Our coaches are busy introducing the game to another cohort of special needs youngsters this term. Table Cricket is an adapted form of the game created by the Lord's Taverners. It is played on a table tennis table with a ramp to deliver the ball, a small bat to hit it and sliding fielders to catch them out! It teaches teamwork, tactics and respect, and a little maths, too. Here's hoping we can repeat our success in 2026 when Newton Bridge Academy in Grantham battled through county and regional rounds and went on to win the national finals at Lord's, the 'home of cricket'
