Grantham Operatic Society Grantham Operatic Society (GOS) are a NODA award-winning amateur theatre company based in Grantham.

Grantham Operatic Society (GOS) is a local, NODA award-winning amateur theatre company based in Grantham, Lincolnshire for actors, singers, musicians and production team members. We have been active for over 60 years, with our main objective being to bring together members of the community to have fun and perform our favourite shows to a high standard. The NODA review for ‘Anything Goes’ reported “Grantham Operatic Society delivered a terrific treat to audiences with their recent performances of Anything Goes.”

However, we also take the opportunity to learn different skills through our rehearsals (for example, learning to tap dance for our production of Anything Goes) and through arranged workshops with professionals etc. which the society organise for their members and invite the wider acting and singing communities of Grantham. We generally perform one main show a year at the Grantham Guildhall Arts Centre (during the week after Easter) and throughout the rest of the year we perform in concerts and at smaller events as well as carol singing in the community at Christmas.

📚🎩 164 NIGHTS TO GO! 🎩📚

Step inside Professor Henry Higgins’ study… where books line the shelves, language is an obsession, and a certain professor is never short of an opinion! 🧐

The books are stacked, the study is waiting, and the countdown to My Fair Lady is officially on! 🌸

Will Eliza Doolittle turn Higgins’ carefully ordered world upside down? Will his experiment prove a triumph? And will he ever learn that there’s more to a lady than the way she speaks? 😉

✨ In just 164 nights, the doors open and the magic begins!

🎭 We’re counting down the nights until we bring this much-loved musical to the stage, filled with wit, romance, unforgettable characters and a little Edwardian elegance.

💬 Tell us: If you could sneak into Professor Higgins’ study, which book would you pull from the shelves first?

🎟️ Keep your eyes peeled for more behind-the-scenes glimpses as we get closer to opening night! https://www.guildhallartscentre.com/whats-on/all-shows/my-fair-lady

🌸 OH, THE ENGLISH! 🇬🇧🎭

What happens when a professor of phonetics decides that the way people speak is a national emergency? Welcome to My Fair Lady!

We begin in the hustle and bustle of Covent Garden, where the wonderfully opinionated Professor Henry Higgins encounters a world of accents, street sellers and London life. One flower girl, Eliza Doolittle, is about to turn his theories — and perhaps his entire world — upside down!

🎩 The witty bit? Higgins believes he can judge a person by their pronunciation. But is speaking “properly” really the same as being a proper lady?

💐 Expect razor-sharp humour, Edwardian elegance, larger-than-life characters and a story that asks whether society sees the person — or simply hears the accent.

✨ Come for the comedy. Stay for the magic of musical theatre.

🎟️ Don’t just hear about it — experience My Fair Lady live on stage! https://www.guildhallartscentre.com/whats-on/all-shows/my-fair-lady

💬 YOUR TURN! What’s the most unmistakable British accent you can think of? Cockney, Yorkshire, Geordie or something else entirely? Tell us in the comments — and tag someone who would love a night at the theatre!

✨ 🌸 What a great first rehearsal 🌸 ✨

Our first rehearsal for My Fair Lady is officially in the books, and what a bloomin’ brilliant start! 🎭✨

We set the first few scenes, sang through some chorus numbers, and put our dancing shoes to the test with “With a Little Bit of Luck” 💃🕺

There were laughs, lyrics, choreography, questionable dance moves and just the right amount of chaos — so we’d say things are already looking fairly fantastic! 😉

We may not have transformed into polished performers overnight, but we’re definitely working our way up the social scale… one rehearsal at a time! 😜

Roll on rehearsal two — we’re already feeling rather posh about it! 🎩🌂
