So tonight south Lincolnshire Blind Socuety hosted the monthly Deaf group at our BHive . Community hub in Grantham.
We welcomed Ellis Ellis director of VisionAid technologies.
Ellis bought some amazing spectacles that are being trialled .
The spectacles harness some amazing A I technology.
As a person speaks the tiny camera in one of the lenses shows the wearer automatic text translation of the spoken word.
The Grantham deaf group were really impressed and gave some great feedback.
They were so excited Ellis will be going to the Nottingham deaf group to show them too!!

This poem is a powerful reminder of the resilience and strength that can be found within us, even in the face of life's most daunting challenges. It speaks to the journey of self-discovery and empowerment that often begins in our darkest moments. Whether you're facing a health diagnosis, personal loss, or any other obstacle, remember that your spirit and determination can guide you through. Let this poem inspire you to embrace your journey, find your voice, and rewrite your story with courage and hope. You are more capable than you know, and within you lies the power to overcome and thrive.

YOU

When I was diagnosed I chose to search to find my voice
and through these rhyming prose I rose to make this life my choice
What once was scared now I’m prepared for days in haze and blur
Won’t waste a single moment wishing things were like they were
It didn’t happen overnight still fight my anxious chest
Low vision’s what we make of it
we’ll conquer every test
The things I see are dear to me much more than before this
I’m focused on all that I have not on the things I’ll miss
Yes every day’s a battle but that’s ok I’m still here
And even as my vision fades my vision’s clear in here ā¤ļø
So don’t forget today’s not set
YOU šŸ‘†can write the script
whatever this life throws your way YOU are well equipped.

We’ve all heard the words ā€œYou don’t look blindā€
But you can’t tell how much someone can see by the way they look
75 percent of disabilities are hidden disabilities
93 percent of people affected by vision loss have some kind of useful vision
Let’s change the perception today!
