With work well in hand for the 37th Annual "RotarySwimarathon" - the new President of the Rotary Club of Grantham, Mos Kalbassi, looks at what the Club achieves through its various activities as he takes over for 3 months.

The Rotary Club of Grantham is one of the oldest service clubs in Grantham and Mos has been a member for 40yrs. Through their various meetings and trips they undertake many interesting activities activities throughout the year. The year began on 1st July just after the presentation over over £40,000 to local charities and causes from the 2025 "RotarySwimarathon"

Apart from the social side of cruising on Rutland Water and trips to Bomber Command at Lincoln and a trip the the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight the work of Rotary is both International and local where much of the Clubs activities take place. A concert at the Guildhall featuring GRAB raised over £2,000 for Rotary Charities and the Club also joined in with the Community Festival at Belton House and the towns Christmas light switch on. As a service organisation they put support for our young people high on the agenda - sending youngsters with Special Needs on outward bound courses, 3 students on RYLA - the Rotary Youth Leadership Award Scheme and undertaking Mock Interviews at the Kings School, Sir William Robertson Academy and the Charles Read Academy.

Supporting the town is important and installations of play equipment at Gonerby Hill Foot Park and Beedon Park alongside the installation of recreational and keep fit kit at Dysart Park and Wyndham Park have been key projects over the last few years. To support the Rotary International campaign to eradicate Polio over 1,000 crocuses have been planted at Londonthorpe.

With a forthcoming Burns Night, Valentines lunch and a trip to the Lakes Mos is looking forward to his continued membership of the Club with so many enjoyable and rewarding activities - Mos said over the years he has made many friends and would encourage people to join Rotary not only for the friendship but to be able to put something back into the Community that we all depend upon - anyone who would like to join or find out more can contact the Club on 07454-941349 or 07843-642326
