Statement from the Trustees of the Ron Dawson Memorial Hall
Thank you to everyone who has raised questions about the use of the Memorial Hall field.
To clarify, the field is not open for dog walking, and the existing “No Dogs” signs apply at all times, including evenings and weekends.
The field is used by Corby Glen Preschool during weekdays, with young children regularly playing on the grass. We also have regular bookings with local football teams. Maintaining a clean and safe environment is a priority for the Trustees, and unfortunately it is not possible to guarantee that all dog owners would clean up after their pets. For this reason, the no dogs policy remains in place.
From time to time, the field is hired out for private events, including caravan rallies. In these cases, organisers have booked and paid to use the site, and we have their contact details and agreed booking conditions. This allows us to hold organisers accountable should any issues arise, including ensuring the site is left clean and tidy.
We appreciate that many dog owners are responsible and respectful, and this decision is not aimed at any individual. It is simply the most practical way to protect a space that is used regularly by young children and the wider community.
