Only two weeks to go to our second Lions Open Evening. We would like. to invite anyone who has supported, or would like to be supported by, Grantham Lions Club,
and anyone who is interested in joining a group of people who work together to improve things for others. We are all volunteers and we plan fundraising events and decide together how to distribute the proceeds.
We have been established in Grantham for over 50 years, and have donated to many good causes in that time. There is no obligation to join, it is just a chance to meet us, ask questions, and sample some free homemade cakes with a cup of tea or coffee. Please come along to the NGAS building on June 27th at 7.30 onwards.
We really do want to meet you.

At Thursday’s meeting, and following our bed push in town, we made a donation of £500 to Macmillan. Most of us know someone who has been affected by cancer, and we were happy to support this very worthwhile charity. Thank you again to all who donated on the day.

We also made a £500 donation to Kesteven Rideability, who have recently been the victims of theft. Most of their tack and saddles were stolen. This left them temporarily unable to offer their riding lessons and the valuable interaction with others which means so much to the adults and children alike. Over the years we have supported Kesteven Rideability and news of this devastating theft prompted us to offer our help again.

On Thursday we welcomed another
new member to our team. Vikki has already helped us with collecting on the sleigh and with the Marie Curie daffodil appeal. We are very happy to have her as part of our Lions family.
We hope you will have some fun, Vikki, and we already know you are going to be a huge asset to Grantham Lions Club.
If you would like to know more about Lions and what we do, we are holding an Open Evening on Thursday 25th June from 7.30pm onwards.
We would love to meet you and we will have free coffee, tea, and home made cakes for you.

On Saturday we held our Annual Bed Push around Welby Street and along the market area, raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
We took our enormous lion, Simba, along with us on the bed, and two of our Lions dressed up, which was definitely going the extra mile in the very hot weather!
Thank you to everyone who donated.

A few days ago we presented Grantham Arts with £300, to enable them to purchase some easels. Their aim is to set up a community art space that is available to all, to enable people to learn new skills and access art equipment. They hold open sessions that are available to everyone who would like to participate, both children and adults.
We visited them at Grantham House to see their facilities.
Grantham Lions are pleased to have been able to help with our donation, please contact us if you too would like to help others in this way.

We are very grateful to Grantham Squash and Fitness Centre for hosting one of our Easter Egg baskets again this year, raising the fantastic sum of £151 for Lions Club Funds. Thank you for your continued support.
Thank you too to all the other businesses who help in this way with our Easter fundraiser- we couldn't do it without you.!

Last week some Lions attended a ‘Celebration of Service’ event held in Buckminster Village Hall, hosted by District Governor Chris Speed. At this event Lion Sandie was presented with a chevron for achieving 15 years of service within Lions, and Lion Phil was also congratulated on his 25 year milestone.
It was a good event and we met with other Lions Club members as well as enjoying a lovely buffet lunch.
