This evening was all about budgeting and money skills.
First off the Explorers had to form a household, they got given a starting monthly income, and then had to discuss whether they were going to use debit or credit to pay their bills of water and electricity, as well as having a unexpected bill land! Some were lucky and had £100’s left over at the end of 3 months, others not so lucky with the cost of their bills and ended up in debt!
They then had 3 scenarios to budget for:
A 7-day dream holiday for 2 people for under £2,500.
Plan for moving out for university for less than £1,000 whilst still having enough left over for an unexpected payment.
With the final scenario being save £800 over 6 months when they were only earning £400pm.
