Welcome this little beauty, not a usual rescue for us but she needed a safe place so we said yes 🥰

She’s lovely but is a bit poorly so she went to see our vet today 😢

Over the next few days you’ll see our social media change a little bit.

As you have seen, we’ve taken in far more other animals than guinea pigs recently and our name just isn’t fitting right!

So we are changing to Popcorning Piggies Small Animal Rescue*

This is our new logo 😍 we wanted to pop this post on before changing everything so you still know it’s us!

We cannot wait 🎊

Behind every little face here is a story.

Some arrived scared.
Some were neglected.
Some were unwanted.
Some came to us needing urgent veterinary care.
And some simply had nowhere else to go.

But when they arrive here, we promise that it all changes.

We promise them warmth.
We promise them food.
We promise them medical care when they’re poorly.
We promise them a safe place to sleep.
And most importantly… we promise them that they matter.

But we can only keep that promise with YOUR help.

Yesterday one of our little hand rear rabbit took a turn for the worse and collapsed. We immediately rushed her to our vets after giving her glucose.

She is very poorly, she is on antibiotics to cover her just incase she has an infection going on. We are also giving her subcutaneous fluids throughout the day.

She’s talking her feeds well as we continue around the clock care for her.

Meet Merlin,

A beautiful young boy who was found in the Southampton area, he was taken to the lovely people at Beech House and from there, he’s made his way to us.

He is absolutely petrified but we are working slowly with him to build up his confidence, we’ve already seen a big difference 🥹

Please please vaccinate your rabbits, if you haven’t already, now really is the time 🙏🏻

🚨🐰 URGENT WARNING FOR RABBIT OWNERS 🐰🚨

We have had a suspected case of Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease (RHD), a highly contagious and almost always fatal disease that can kill a rabbit very quickly.

⚠️ The most frightening thing about RHD is that rabbits can become infected without direct contact with another rabbit. The virus can be carried by insects, shoes, clothing, hands, bedding, food, hay and equipment - and it can survive in the environment for weeks.
Once clinical signs appear, rabbits can deteriorate rapidly and death may occur within just 12–36 hours. There is no specific treatment for RHD.

💉 VACCINATION IS CRITICAL.
If your rabbit is not vaccinated, or is overdue for vaccination, please contact us as soon as possible.

Milo is the newest guest here at the rescue, he was found wondering the streets of Southampton like Mocha, although he was in a different part. He was taken to Vets Now and has now made his way into our care after they kindly neutered him.

Tonight he’s on his way to our vets because he’s stopped eating. Stasis is very serious and can be life threatening if left too long, it’s incredibly important he’s seen this evening.

Out of hours comes at a huge cost and if he needs hospitalisation, for overnight care, we are looking at hundreds.

A small one pound donation is all it takes to help, £1 really can save a life and right now, that is what Milo needs. Life saving care. When the gut stops moving, everything stops and their little bodies shut down.

After our appeal for Mocha we received a very generous donation to cover all of the spay, thank you so much and thank you to whoever donated £5 towards it too, it all makes such a difference.

We know how tough times are and we know how much you’ve already given us over the last couple of months (which by the way, is incredible and we are truly so grateful). But the rescue doesn’t stop and we must fight for these little lives who depend on us. They deserve a second chance at life and you make that happen every single day 🥹
