The Moorlands Youth and Community Centre is situated in the heart of Old Goole providing space, activities, support, and services to the local community of Old Goole, the rural Marshland villages, and the surrounding areas. Our building is a for youth and community projects, and we welcome all those in Old Goole to access our current services and to produce and participate in services
and projects important to them. On Monday we run a luncheon club at the centre aimed at reducing loneliness and isolation. Members donate £5 a week and receive a delicious homecooked meal, socialise, and play games of bingo. The session is well-loved and vibrant. Pop in and speak to Fran for more information. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 10:00 till 14:00 are community hours. Pop in for a cuppa, a chat, and to use our computers and printer. We can offer support for any issues you are facing and if needed, help signpost you to any appropriate services. Our primary role is to encourage the community to use the space to enhance the community spirit that is so vibrant in Old Goole. Pop into our Community Café on Tuesday or Wednesday 10:00 till 13:00 for a delicious breakfast or homecooked lunch. Our prices are very reasonable and after you have bought a cuppa or a coffee you can sit, relax, and chat with free refills! We also supply reasonably priced lunch bags when life is busy, and you need help with the little things. Call in and speak to our Café Co-Ordinator, Jodie, for more information. On Thursday we run a satellite luncheon club at Ilkeston Avenue Community Centre. Another lively and well attended session but we can always find room for one more! Members also donate £5 for a delicious meal and bingo! The luncheon clubs also go on shopping trips, to the coast, the theatre, and other day trips. Call in and see Fran for more information. The cost-of-living crisis has affected us all, but we are here to help with our Pantry Membership. Members donate £5 per week and on Thursday between 10:00am and 14:00pm receive useful items for the pantry, the dinner table, the cleaning cupboard, or to stock up toiletries. Sometimes are weekly bags are valued at around £7 but mostly the pantry bags are valued well over £10 providing savings all year round. Pop in to see our Pantry Co-Ordinator, Genie, for more information. Look out for Friendly Friday! 1:00am till 13:00pm. On Fridays, the team will be opening the centre to welcome the community into their centre. Become a member and for a donation of £3 we will provide bottomless tea/coffee/juice and a small meal for e.g. sandwiches, scones, sausage rolls, soup and roll. You can use our computers and our gaming area! Play cards, board games, or use our pool table. Do paper crafts or knit or learn something new. It is about having fun, socialising, and building relationships. From 3:00pm Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday we run a youth provision. Young people must become a member to attend but membership is easy - just pop in to see our Youth Co-Ordinator and Head of Services, Janet, for more information. We are currently planning our new schedule, but young people can enjoy organised activities with trained youth workers. We do sport and activities at South Park, crafts and learning new skills, board and card games, pool and table tennis, and look out for our brand-new gaming area. Our provision is always educational, and we take part in group games, workshops, and chat to young people in their safe space. Janet, our New Head of Services is enthusiastic that we EMPOWER.
