This week we've been looking at some of the multiple volunteer roles that support each and every lifeboat station.
Day 7: Lifeboat Operations Manager
The Lifeboat Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring that lifeboat station operate safely, efficiently, and are always ready to respond to emergencies at sea.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading and supporting volunteer lifeboat crews and station teams.
• Overseeing recruitment, training, development, and welfare of personnel.
• Ensuring lifeboats, vehicles, equipment, and facilities are maintained and operationally ready.
• Managing health, safety, and compliance with operational standards and procedures.
• Coordinating emergency preparedness and supporting effective search and rescue responses.
• Building strong relationships with local communities, maritime organisations, and partner agencies.
• Managing budgets, resources, and station performance.
• Promoting a positive safety culture and continuous improvement across operations.
Behind every launch is a dedicated team, and the Lifeboat Operations Manager plays a vital role in making sure crews have the support, resources, and leadership needed to save lives at sea.
