Loneliness might not be the first symptom you think of when dealing with a dementia diagnosis, but it's one we see affecting sufferers and their carers every day.

Our dementia friendship and support groups run across five Surrey locations providing a welcoming, safe space and a chance to socialise for people with memory loss and their carers.

The sessions are filled with activities, fun, and visits from local services. Tea and biscuits included. Donations are welcome to help us continue providing this valuable service.

Today our Saturday respite service had a fabulous Mexican-themed day!

Our 10–3 Club is all about giving people the opportunity to enjoy a fun, stimulating and sociable day in a safe and welcoming environment, while giving families and carers some valuable respite and time for themselves.

Today we enjoyed:
Mexican-themed word games
Music and singing
Fun team games
Activities to encourage thinking, conversation and memory
A delicious two-course lunch

Our Saturday service gives guests the chance to socialise, try something different, build confidence, stay active and make new friendships, judging by the smiles today, our Mexican adventure was a great success!

We are still looking to welcome more volunteers to support our community 💙

We would love for more people to join our fundraising committee which is an important part of raising essential funds. We plan lots of events throughout the year and can only do this with support and enthusiasm. Our committee looks forward to welcoming you as TOGETHER we can raise funds which help us provide the services and activities that make a real difference to the lives of everyone we support 🫶🏻

We are looking for kind and enthusiastic volunteers to support our 10–3 Club, a welcoming space where people can come together for friendship, conversation, and enjoyable activities.

We would especially love to hear from anyone who would be willing to help lead or support simple, engaging activities that encourage participation for people living with dementia. This could include games, arts and crafts, music and singing, reminiscence activities, gentle quizzes, or simply spending time chatting and offering companionship.

You don't need previous experience with dementia care just patience, kindness, and a willingness to help others feel included.

Any time you can offer, whether regularly or occasionally, would be greatly appreciated, and guidance and support will be available.

By volunteering, you'll be helping to create meaningful moments, reduce isolation, and bring joy to those who attend our club.

A dementia diagnosis can bring many unexpected challenges.

Come along to Age UK Surrey’s dementia support sessions in Dorking on the 2nd Friday of every month.

📍 Nower House, Coldharbour Lane, Dorking, RH4 3BL

🕑 10.45am - 12.30pm: Memory Lane - our Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (MCST) sessions welcome people at any stage of the dementia journey, with trained staff and volunteers guiding structured, stimulating activities that support memory and mental function. Booking is required, and a fee applies.

🕑 1.00pm - 2.30pm: Memory and Friendship Group is a welcoming, safe space and a chance to socialise for people with memory loss and their carers. The sessions are filled with activities, fun, and visits from local services. Tea and biscuits included. Donations are welcome.
