Good morning,
I received this late yesterday and thought I would share albeit at exceedingly late notice. Hello There

We are working with Welsh Government and the National Forest for Wales Liaison team to host a series of engagement and consultation events along a proposed Llwybr Coedwig Cymru Trail - connecting woodlands and National Forest sites from Porthkerry park to (eventually) North Wales.

We are coming to the Glyn Neath Rugby Club - 1st March because the national trail picks up the geo / Cwm Gwrelych trail, and ends the south section of the trail in Glynneath. See map attached. We will be running a pop up consultation event in the bar from 10.30am - 1.30pm with a themed St David's Day woodland craft activity suitable for all ages. We will also be hosting a guided walk along the GEO trail from 11am if you can make it.

We are really keen to talk with local organsiations and community who know the trail and the local area well - and we extend a warm invitation to the members of the Local History society. Please join us if you can, and let us know what you think of the trail, any issues you can foresee and any advice, local knowledge and suggestions.

Please feel free to share these details with anyone you think would be interested. I attach a poster about the event and a pdf map of the wider trail (blue line) as well as the local route to Glynneath.

Please feel free to give me a call if you need more info. 07894 797 903

Dear Members

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Well we are about to start our second half of the season this coming week, with our first talk of 2026.

Huw Williams is to give us a talk on Laura Ashley, which I'm sure will interest us all.
I know I was a fan of her fabrics, although as a student, could ill afford anything more than anything from the remnant section!!!

Looking forward to seeing you all again at 2.15 in the Bethania Chapel, Glynneath. Opposite the Co-op .

to Del, bcc: me
Good Morning all, and especially to our new members.

Well, Heritage week is done and dusted, and I must say that all the speakers were informative and entertaining.
Thank you all for your support in this pioneering event, and I believe we have raised our profile, and justified our grant awards!!! Two of our main aims have been achieved.
Onwards and upwards.....

So our next meeting today we shall be welcoming Jonathan Davies, of the Neath Antiquarians, who will be speaking to us, about the Neath Union Workhouse.

At our meeting on 7 January, the talk will be by Huw Williams, who will be telling us all about Laura Ashley, and on 4 February, Robert Jones will be speaking about the Hier family story with special reference to WW1.

We look forward to welcoming you all at Bethania. The talks begin at 2.30, so we usually assemble on the ground floor about 2.00, as we have to wait for the occupants of the room upstairs to leave.

Elizabeth Belcham
Secretary.
