Easter Egg-Stravaganza 🐣

Over the Easter holiday almost 50 children went on our Superweek at Barton Camp! And this team made it a brilliant few days in Somerset. With highlights including:

- chicken nuggets and chips dinner
- a cosy Dutch auction with a suprise guest appearance from Mooriah Carey who tried to eat a conker and some fake nails
- going down the water slide 5,184 times
- a strong climb up a hill followed by a gentle amble down a hill with great views of the Somerset Levels.
- buying ice cream on the day trip with the money we got from a farmer we’d helped the night before
- Mooriah Carey appearing in the middle of the day trip, eating some grass and going away.
- squeeeeezing in a handicraft
- a lot of time spent with our groups
- an escape room
- a game of “Eliminators” (Assassins)
- making our own butter
- Mooriah Carey appearing for a third time to eat the butter we’d made (combined with some dubious ingredients and a conker for good measure)
- a game of Just Dairy Products
- toasting marshmallows on a fire

Well done amazing team!!

We were proud to host Jess Murray of for a morning of outdoor play and nonsense at The GreATE Escape last week.

It was lovely to see the recognition that screen-free spaces, safe space to play outdoors, encouragement to meet new people and a gentle invite to enjoy yourself is of HUGE benefit to children and young people.

A special thanks to Monitor Margot and Superweeker Nina for chatting so candidly about what we do on Superweeks.

Our summer is nearly over for another year but we'll be doing all we can to ensure there's a diverse programme to offer the children of the UK in 2026.

Thanks to all our friends, alumni and staff for the continued support in tricky times.

🔴The GreATE Escape 2025🔴

Our biggest Superweek this year happened last week, with almost 60 children at Moor Park for some hijinks and silliness. Here are some highlights from the week ✨

* a cumulative 540 mins in the pool, including one early morning session of pre breakfast aqua aerobics
* in the woods geocaching
* building our own fires and toasting marshmallows in 28 degrees
* meeting baby goats and piglets and ducks
* competing to be the most knowledgeable about Ludlow
* eating 240 ice pops
* losing shoes during Combat
* visiting the Pine Cone shop on the 1st floor of Moor Park
* Escaping Shannon’s Escape Room
* Making crumble with blackberries picked on site
* Playing Extreme JDP in the dark
* Accidentally selling our own dorms three hours before bed and getting in a pickle with some property developers

The brilliant Team Action and Adventure (pictured here) spent a week at the amazing Edgmond Hall with almost 40 Actioners and Adventurers.

I asked the brilliant Charli who directed the week what kind of things they got up to -

☀️The children evaded the “Hunters” in a whole holiday ATE version of hide and seek

☀️Epic den-building competitions were held where the winners’ den fitted 31 Superweekers inside

☀️ They visited the Action Auction, declared champion artists and archaeologists

☀️walked in the countryside

☀️searched for googly eyes

☀️hid and searched for flags

☀️visited a zoo

AND graduated from the A&A Agent Agency, having thwarted Agent Aardvark’s devilish plans to name a few!

We’ve already had 2 Superweeks happen and it’s only the 3rd of August! In late July we ran 2 weeks in collaboration with working with different groups of children in Bristol, predominately Young Carer’s. We love working with Barton and these two brilliant staff teams did a splendid job filling the week with fun & silliness.

Well done teams Barton 1 & 2!

"My two children attended Barton Camp this Easter. Both children were really nervous, however from the minute we arrived they were welcomed and they made friends.

We were shown around all the facilities and the boys were so excited! During the week they made lovely friends, amazing activities, made fantastic craft and swam everyday in the amazing pool!

You guys have given them memories that they will hold forever and I can honestly say I am still hearing stories about there stay 2 weeks later! We actually had tears leaving as they missed the friends they made.

All the staff were lovely, I have heard the food was great. Im super impressed with Joel who made the boys repack their bags and fold all their clothes! Amazing!! 😜! The boys loved spending time with him and said that he was really ‘caring’ so a big thank you!"

Employee of the Week ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is Sam. Sam is our Programme Manager AND our Head of Staffing which means these last few weeks have been mad for her because she needs to pull both our Easter Superweek AND our Monitors Course together at the SAME TIME. (Her many hats are on a hat rack just off camera)

She's amazing, and we love her.

Thanks Sam 🥰

School Partners 🎒🏫🧑🏼‍🏫

We work hard *every* year to raise enough money to be able to offer a third of our places on Superweeks to families fully-funded. It's incredibly important to us that Superweeks are for as many children as possible, not just the families who can happily afford that sort of extra experience in their summer holidays.

We offer all these places through the many, many partner schools we work with across the UK.

2025 will be out 30th (!) summer of Superweeks, and if we hit our targets (!) would see us cross the half million £££ threshold of funding raised to send children on Superweeks!

Half a million pounds! Imagine!

We raise money by approaching funding bodies, large and small, running our own fundraising events or supporting staff and volunteers to run their own, and being extremely grateful for regular donations from friends and alumni.

If you are at all in a position to donate the cost of a couple of Starbucks a month, knowing every penny would be spent sending a child on a Superweek in 2025, head to:

Suspicious activity || 🧩🕵🏼🔍

A disproportionately high number of irregular occurrences occur on Superweeks. Missing maps, lost treasure, clues hidden in your cereal boxes and discovered and breakfast ... Trails to follow and people needing help.

We aren't saying it will happen on yours this Summer, but it might be worth keeping your 👀 open.
