Do you love a scary story? 👻

Merely a few days after Halloween, we welcome two authors who have crafted compelling books designed to have an unsettling effect on the reader to explore why we thrill to horror stories.😱

Set in 1987, award-winning novelist Claire Fuller Hunger and Thirst centres on a mysterious house whose owners met a terrible end. It’s an addictively propulsive and haunting story of loneliness, of female friendship, and of horrors without and within.

much-acclaimed debut novel One Yellow Eye is a subversive undead love story set in a time of zombie pandemic. Kesta’s husband Tim has been bitten, but he’s not quite dead. In fact, he’s tied to a bed in her spare room while Kesta tries to find a cure that will bring her back to him.

We can’t wait to welcome writer and journalist Sathnam Sanghera to Stroud Book Festival to discuss his new book Tonight the Music Seems So Loud, an elegiac yet also poptastically enjoyable exploration of George Michael’s life, times and creativity.

An hour of pop music heaven in which we’ll discuss the connection between music and politics, what secrecy does to the soul, and how fame rots the sense of self. But we’ll also capture the joy and creativity of George Michael in all his supremely talented, musical glory.🪩
