🇵🇱🇬🇧 From our friends at the 307 Squadron Project we have received an invitation to a special event – The Polish D-Day Story, taking place at The D-Day Story Museum in Portsmouth as part of Polish Heritage Days.

The two-day programme includes:

This is a wonderful opportunity to discover the stories of the Polish servicemen and women who fought alongside the Allies during the Second World War and contributed to the victory over Germany.

CHAILEY AIRFIELD MEMORIAL SERVICE
Sunday 14th June 2026 Start time – 3.00 p.m.

Sussex County Royal British Legion, together with Chailey Airfield Memorial Committee, cordially invite you to our annual Chailey Airfield Memorial Service.

The service commemorates all those men and women who served in the armed forces at RAF Chailey; in particular, those of the three Polish Spitfire squadrons that provided air cover for the D-Day landings in June 1944.

The service will commence at 3.00p.m. at the Airfield Memorial, situated at The Plough Inn public
house on the northern outskirts of Plumpton village, Plumpton Green, Lewes East Sussex BN7 3DF.

All veterans organisation Standards are welcome. Please ask your Standard Bearer to be ready to Parade at 2.30 p.m and let us know if your Standard will be attending.

The delightful Plough Inn offers a great quality lunch menu and we recommend booking in advance for the day.

Car parking is limited, however the field adjoining the pub will be available for parking. Please be aware that the ground is uneven and cars are parked there at the owner’s risk.

Today marks the 82nd anniversary of D-Day when allied forces stormed the Normandy beaches.

In two weeks time, on 20th and 21st June, the Polish involvement in D-Day will be shown at the Polish D-Day Story event at the D-Day Story museum in Portsmouth.

Dziś 82 rocznica lądowania w Normandii (D-Day), kiedy to wojska alianckie zaatakowały wroga na plażach Normandii.

Za dwa tygodnie, 20 i 21 czerwca, polski udział w D-Day zostanie zaprezentowany podczas wydarzenia "Polish D-Day Story" w muzeum D-Day Story w Portsmouth.

The future of the last Polish resettlement home in Great Britain, Ilford Park in Devon, is under threat due to costs.

Our friend Jerry Bird has launched a government petition to save the home.

We urge all British citizens and UK residents to sign the official petition on the link below.

At least 100,000 signatures are required for a debate in parliament to be considered.

Przyszłość ostatniego polskiego domu przesiedleńczego w Wielkiej Brytanii, Ilford Park w Devon, jest zagrożona z powodu kosztów. Nasz przyjaciel Jerry Bird zainicjował rządową petycję w celu uratowania domu. Wzywamy wszystkich obywateli brytyjskich i mieszkańców Wielkiej Brytanii do podpisania oficjalnej petycji, dostępnej pod poniższym linkiem. Aby debata w parlamencie mogła zostać rozpatrzona, wymagane jest zebranie co najmniej 100 000 podpisów.

We call on the Government to fund the continued operation of culturally appropriate retirement provision to Polish veterans and their families. Such homes provide culturally specific care for elderly residents. The last home of its kind, Ilford Park Polish Home, is due to be closed.

We were honoured to attend a service at a Polish War Memorial near Netherfield, Sussex, to remember a bomber crew of 304 Squadron who crashed 85 years ago.

The ceremony was organised by the Royal British Legion and The Polish South Coast Charity Trust.

Wczoraj mieliśmy zaszczyt uczestniczyć w uroczystości przy Polish War Memorial niedaleko Netherfield, Sussex, aby uczcić załogę bombowca z 304 Dywizjonu, który rozbił się tu 85 lat temu.

To wyjątkowe wydarzenie zostało zorganizowane przez The Polish South Coast Charity Trust wraz z The Royal British Legion. 🌺🌺🌺

83 years ago Adam Węgiel of 307 Squadron was killed off the Brittany coast of France.

He was a fully trained professional architect and artist he is believed to have redesigned the ballroom of the Rougemont Hotel in Exeter.

Adam also made the brass replica of the squadron log book that was presented to the city of Exeter in 1942.

He also drew plans for a possible stained glass window for the cathedral in Exeter.

The stained glass window was never made because he was killed before he could hand the plans to the cathedral.

However, in 2017 a permanent memorial to 307 Squadron was unveiled in the cathedral to remember the role of the Polish 307 Squadron.

83 lat temu u wybrzeży Bretanii we Francji zginął Adam Węgiel z Dywizjonu 307.

Był on zawodowym architektem i artystą, który prawdopodobnie przeprojektował salę balową hotelu Rougemont w Exeter.
Adam wykonał również mosiężną replikę okładki Kroniki Dywizjonu 307, która została podarowana miastu Exeter w 1942 roku.

Narysował też plany ewentualnego witraża do katedry w Exeter. Witraż nigdy nie powstał, ponieważ lotnik zginął, zanim zdążył przekazać plany katedrze.

Jednak w 2017 roku w Katedrze w Exeter odsłonięto tablicę dla upamiętnienia lotników polskiego Dywizjonu 307.

On the night of 18th-19th May 1943 the crew of Antoni Dzięgielewski & Adam Węgiel were killed when their Mosquito was believed to have been shot down off the Brittany coast by anti-aircraft fire.

W nocy z 18 na 19 maja 1943 r. Załoga z pilotem Antonim Dzięgielewskim i nawigatorem Adamem Węgielem zginęła, gdy ich Mosquito, został zestrzelony u wybrzeży Bretanii, prawdopodobnie przez obronę przeciwlotniczą.
