Situated in the heart of Kingsholm, Gloucester, the old co-op building has been renovated by an enthusiastic team of local people and opened in November 2014 as a 2 storey, coffee shop and community hub. In 2023 we opened a zero waste, affordably priced, refill shop to enhance our food offering to our community. Then 2024 saw a new group of community minded volunteers take the refill shop and coff

ee offering into one space of essential shopping, coffee/tea, music and joy! A member organisation with no shareholders - all profits go back into community activities.

After a difficult few weeks following the sad closure of Roots in Alvin Street, we’re delighted to share some uplifting news…

💚 A new refill shop is opening in the city centre this Tuesday 24th March!
📍 The Gloucester Refillery –

80 Westgate Street

Tues – Sat, all days 10 – 4

🛒 Trading proudly under On The Table Community Ltd

Thanks to a huge amount of hard work, care, and support, we’ve been able to bring this new space to life in an incredibly short time. We’re so pleased to keep refill shopping alive in Gloucester and continue offering a sustainable, community-minded way to shop.

Our small team — Owen, Rosie, Sue and Richard — would love to welcome you through the doors of The Gloucester Refillery. Whether you’re a long-time supporter or brand new to refilling, please pop in, say hello, and see what we’ve been building for you.

Thank you for supporting us. Here’s to new beginnings, community spirit, and a greener Gloucester. 💚♻️

We have concentrated on being open as quickly as possible and will be developing the space as we go to suit our customers needs.

There will be lots more to come, including a website that will enable you to check what’s in stock, do ‘click and collect’ and hopefully also, in time, a delivery service!

Doors are now open for community spaces / charities / other 'not for profit' organisations to come collect toys, games or arts&crafts. If you are not one of these then we cannot give them to you for free, anything left over will be included for purchase by others in the clutter sale at 4pm.

Good morning Roots community, hopefully you have all had a chance to look over the ongoing furniture auction and make some bids, it is open till 12:00 today.

I can now let you know we will be having a clutter sale today from 16:00 to 19:00 (4pm to 7pm) to try and find new homes for our remaining bits and pieces. Pictures above so you can have a preview. Come on down for one last chance to help us reduce waste. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
