🎉 Celebrating International Day of Play! 🎉
Today we joined the global call to action for the International Day of Play – a day that shines a spotlight on every child’s right to play and the vital role it has in helping children grow, learn and thrive. 🌍✨
Play isn’t just fun (although it definitely is!) – it’s essential for children’s development. Through play, children build confidence, creativity and friendships, while developing the emotional, social and problem-solving skills they need for life. 🧠🩵
To mark the day, our amazing Play Rangers teamed up with Family Connectors from Gloucester and Forest of Dean Children and Family Centres to bring some extra joy to lunchtime at:
🏫 Bishops Cleeve Primary Academy
🏫 Harewood Junior School
🏫 St James’ C of E Junior School
Together, we added an extra 31 minutes of play, championing Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child – because every child has the right to rest, relax and play. 🙌
This year’s theme,“Protect Play, Protect Childhood,” is a powerful reminder that play should be valued everywhere – not just in schools, but in our communities, homes and public spaces too.

And what did play look like today? A whole lot of fun! 🎨🎲
From chalk art and story dice to Playpod loose parts and lively games of tag, it’s safe to say smiles (and laughter!) were everywhere.
Thanks to the schools for letting us join them to celebrate International Day of Play 🤩
