Local Plan Examination - Update from the Programme Officer - Dedicated Transport Hearing Session.

The Inspectors have now confirmed that the dedicated Transport Hearing Session will take place on 20 October 2026, commencing at 10:00am.

Participation in this session will be limited to representatives from Stroud District Council, Gloucestershire County Council, National Highways, and South Gloucestershire Council.

The session will be held at:

Stroud District Council Offices
Ebley Mill, Ebley Wharf
Stroud, Gloucestershire
GL5 4UB

The specific meeting room will be confirmed closer to the date of the hearing and published here. Members of the public are welcome to observe the session. However, anyone wishing to attend is advised to contact the Programme Officer in advance to confirm their attendance. This will help ensure that sufficient capacity is available for all those who wish to observe.

📢 Update on the draft Stroud District Local Plan Examination.

Stroud District Council has published the latest letter from the Planning Inspectors.
After reviewing the responses received and considering the issues raised, the Inspectors have decided that a further hearing session is necessary. This additional session will focus specifically on the updated strategic transport evidence and the recent responses submitted.
The hearing will take place as soon as possible. While members of the public will not be able to attend in person, it is expected that the session will be available to view online. As soon as a date is confirmed, we will share the details with everyone.
WAG will be listening closely to the hearing and will provide a summary and update to the community afterwards.
This latest decision demonstrates that important and significant questions remain regarding the evidence underpinning the draft Local Plan, particularly in relation to transport impacts.

4 YEARS after the draft local plan was submitted for public examination, the Independent Planning Inspectors have AGAIN recommended it should be withdrawn! The first recommendation was almost 2 years ago.

Why then did Stroud District Council continue to press ahead with a flawed plan and wasting more taxpayers money!
