Gayu Guru Gerai Nyamai! ๐ŸŒพโœจ

As we continue to celebrate the vibrant harvest season across Borneo, we extend our warmest wishes to all our friends, partners, and communities celebrating Pesta Gawai!

Though we are based amidst the beautiful mangroves of Sabah, the spirit of gratitude, unity, and deep respect for the land connects us all. From the golden paddy fields to the rivers and forests that sustain us, this festive season reminds us of our shared responsibility to honor and protect our natural heritage.

May this Gawai bring you and your loved ones an abundance of blessings, good health, and enduring prosperity. Oooohhaaa! ๐Ÿชต๐Ÿฆœ

This year, World Migratory Bird Day highlights birds from around the world to celebrate the 2026 theme: โ€œEvery Bird Counts โ€“ Your Observations Matter!โ€.

These ambassador species help us understand migratory patterns and connect communities across global Flyways, highlighting the importance of citizen science observations for tracking, protecting, and conserving migratory birds worldwide.

One of these ambassador species is the Ruby-throated Hummingbird, weighing about as much as a penny and beating its wings up to 53 times per second. Males are known for their iridescent red throat. It breeds in eastern North America and migrates to Central America, often crossing the Gulf of Mexico nonstop, feeding on nectar and insects and supporting pollination.

Although generally stable, the species is seeing small declines due to habitat loss, fewer insects, agriculture, window collisions, and climate change.
