Want to donate or help with Poppy Appeal? See https://www.britishlegion.org.uk/get-involved/ways-to-give The Gloucester City Branch strives to represent The RBL within the City in order to be a part of delivering support to our beneficiaries and act as focal point for Remembrance. A key part of this is raising money for the Poppy Appeal and also to maintain comradeship through our monthly branch

meetings and contact with local authorities. We meet on the first Thursday of each month at a central location in the city. The meetings starting at 8 p.m. On occasion we may amend the date, look out for the listed events. All are welcome to come and join us, you do not have to have served. There are opportunities to become involved in the running of the branch, becoming a standard bearer, acting as a case worker and much more. There are serious matters to address although on the whole we are a fun bunch and enjoy ourselves too. The RBL offers a very wide range of services, have a look at this link: http://www.britishlegion.org.uk

The information includes How to Get Support including the many services that may be obtained and also How to Get Involved. It's well worth reading. For RBL Support and Services please call the National Contact Centre:
0808 802 8080 from 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week (calls are free from UK landlines and main mobile networks) for all enquiries. From overseas: +44 (0)20 3376 8080 (full rate)

It is highly unusual for a Mayor to have a Stall in a cathedral, especially in such a prominent place, opposite the bishop’s official seat. When a new Bishop, Dean and Chapter were installed following the restoration of the monarchy under Charles II, the Mayor of Gloucester was granted a stall in thanksgiving for the role played by the City Corporation in saving Gloucester Cathedral from destruction. Every year the new Mayor is installed into the Chair as reminder of what a ‘jewel in the city’ we have. Judith Stinchcombe, Chair of Gloucester City RBL, attended Choral Evensong for the Installation of The Right Worshipful Mayor of Gloucester, Cllr Adrian Graham.

Today on a delightfully sunny Sunday we commemorated ANZAC Day, the Anniversary of the Battle of Imjin River and the Battle of Katia. The President, Garry Mills, gave the opening address.
Wreaths were laid by The Right Worshipful Mayor of Gloucester Councillor Ashley Bowkett, the Gloucester MP Alex McIntyre, representative of the Australian Government, and the Branch Chair Mrs Judith Stinchcombe.
Many thanks to our Bugler, Bertie (brilliant by the way), always makes it special to have a live rendition of The Last Post and Reveille.
Standards were paraded from Gloucester City RBL and RAFA, both bearers, Will and Richard, extremely smart. The parade Marshall, Nick Marsh, was resplendent.
Many thanks to all who attended from the branch, the RBL Riders branch, and friends.
Mark Paveley, Vice-Chairman
