Tonight we sang Evensong in Gloucester Cathedral and celebrated the 50th anniversary of Elvin Young joining the Saint Cecilia Singers by raising a glass to him afterwards in the Chapter House.

We were joined by several former Singers, former musical director Andrew Millington (who auditioned Elvin to join the choir in 1976) and many friends in the congregation.

Elvin was Treasurer of the choir for 16 years and is also our honorary Archivist, keeping a record of our programmes dating back to 1948.

In recognition of this, we presented Elvin with a special artwork showing the names of all the composers whose work we've sung over the years.

Congratulations Elvin Young🥂 🎶

All are warmly welcome to join us for the Cathedral Eucharist for the Celebration of the Epiphany, when we will commemorate the visit of the Three Kings to the baby Jesus Christ. We are delighted to be led in song by the brilliant Saint Cecilia Singers.

Did you know ‘Epiphany' comes from the Greek 'to reveal' as it is when the baby Jesus was revealed to the world?

No booking required and everyone is welcome!

Happy Saint Cecilia's Day to all our followers 🙈

A for St Cecilia's Day.

You're welcome, world. Nobody asked for this. Nobody needed it. Nevertheless, here it is.

This is also the 100th we've birthed. It wasn't intended to be the 100th - there are worse to come - but here it is, for Cecilia. It's what she would have wanted.

Lovely evening at for their Christmas Lights switch on.
